Well, it’s really sad to say this, but Sony State of Play 2024 was pretty suitable for a potential Ghost of Tsushima 2 reveal. One after another, big-budget game announcements gave folks hope for a sequel at some point.

Just because Ghost of Tsushima 2 missed Sony’s live stream doesn’t mean it won’t be coming. Industry sources are giving significant hints that a sequel is being worked on. Besides, it makes sense for Sony to consider adding another one to the main game, especially given its significant sales figures.

The Metascore for the original Ghost of Tsushima, released in 2020, is 83, while the Director’s Cut version, released in 2021, has a score of 87. In fact, the main game was a major success, selling 2.4 million copies worldwide within its first three days of release. There is currently little information about how many units the game has sold in total, but the latest data announced as of 2022 is around 9.73 million copies.

Of course, the starting point for all these claims is a job posting that Sucker Punch placed some time after the main game’s release. Over the years, the number of these postings increased, which naturally created an expectation for the continuation of this adventurous samurai story.

There are still plenty of job postings on the developer’s website. Of course, this could be a need for other games, but the fact that some of them have requirements such as “knowledge of Japanese history” shows that this is seemingly a quest for the sequel.

Sony still remains silent about the fact that it is working on a sequel. Sucker Punch has not made such an announcement yet. However, considering the events that have occurred so far, it is possible for folks to get something in the coming years.

Unfortunately, the doubts of Ghost of Tsushima fans who did not get anything at the Sony State of Play 2024 must be cleared soon. Otherwise, there may be a loss of interest in the sequel, which could negatively affect the future of the series.
