It would be a dream-like scenario for production companies to emulate the success that Kevin Feige’s Marvel Cinematic Universe has achieved so far. Sony, in its quest to replicate that success, has taken quite a drastic step by creating its own Spider-Man Universe, with the upcoming Madame Web movie putting it one step forward.

Morbius may have ended up putting Sony a step backward with how poorly it performed at the box office, and the endless panning from critics and fans alike didn’t help either. However, the upcoming Madame Web movie plans on setting things right for the SSU, and with rumors indicating the comeback of two old characters, it might just have a chance.

Madame Web Rumored To Feature Two Classic Spider-Man Villains

Remember Topher Grace from Spider-Man 3? He played the iconic Spider-Man villain Venom in Sam Raimi’s trilogy based on the web-slinging hero. You may also remember Dane DeHaan’s portrayal of Harry Osborn/ Green Goblin in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Guess what these two have in common? They might just be back in the nick of time to save the SSU by making their comebacks in the Madame Web movie.

Bringing back the classic villains into a movie is a pretty good selling point for a movie, the MCU tried this with Spider-Man: No Way Home by bringing back Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus and Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, and it worked out pretty well!

Sony seems to have picked up on this trend as a new rumor has come out from Spider-Man fan and scooper Spider Culture, who reveals some interesting information regarding the Green Goblin and Venom in Madame Web-

There’s no concrete evidence supporting their return in the upcoming Madame Web movie. But if there are villains to be fought in the SSU, these two are good candidates.

Sony has done quite a job trying to keep the development and production of Madame Web a secret. There is very minimal news regarding any sort of update about the upcoming movie, which will star Dakota Johnson in the titular role.

The villain of the movie is supposedly played by Tahar Rahim. But any information regarding who he’ll play has still not been established, although leaked set photos indicate towards him in the role of Ezekiel Sims, a character who, in the comics, had similar powers to Spider-Man.
