Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home created an illustrious box-office and critical marvel with mind-bending surprises and cameos. Sony was far from waiting too long for another sequel to the $1.9 billion movie.
However, fans may not witness the same bang as Spider-Man: No Way Home created on-screen, Spider-Man 4 is reportedly a mess even before production. Of course, two separate studios collaborating on a project will not always end up in a smooth operation, and the Holland-starrer movie could be the latest victim of it.
The Spider-Man 4 Mess
As per reports, Spider-Man 4 is in a bit of a mess as Sony and Marvel have been in a behind-the-scene dispute over the release of the fourth installment to Tom Holland’s ginormous franchise. For MCU, the Marvel Studios has four movies slated for 2025— Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four, and Blade which left almost no room for another big movie from the superhero brand.
Sony, however, is willing to extend their business with the fourth installment rushing Marvel to move forward with the project and that would contradict Kevin Feige’s MCU slates. The Marvel boss is not keen on overcrowding the releases and wishes to push the upcoming project to a 2026 release, but Sony has yet to nod to Feige’s plan.
Further, the director of the Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy, Jon Watts reportedly departed from the upcoming project, Bad Times at the El Royale director Drew Goddard is expected to step in for the project that has been under constant hype.
Devastating Spider-Man 4 Updates Might Upset Fans
Recent Spider-Man 4 updates have been devastating for the MCU fans. The disappointment further escalated following scooper, Daniel Richtman revealed that Watts will not return to the fourth installment of the franchise. Also, producer Amy Pascal reportedly wants Feige to get involved in Sony’s Spider-Verse movies. With the recent updates, Richtman revealed,
“I can also confirm that Sony wants to rush Spider-Man 4 no matter what. Amy Pascal wants Kevin Feige involved in a future Miles movie. Tom Rothman is the one who is fighting Feige on what to do with Spider-Man 4 and he’s the one trying to rush it. He also wants Watts back to direct while Feige wants someone new and to have Watts on other projects.”
Also, Holland previously stated that he would return to the fourth installment only they have a remarkably good script as the actor is more interested in exploring roles beyond the protection of the MCU. So far, there are no reports of the studios reaching an agreement over the newfound issues.
