The fact that Dragon Ball fans are getting a new installment in the Budokai Tenkaichi series nearly two decades later is amazing, with the hype levels in the community increasing on a daily basis. Where the majority of the fanbase seems to be excited about what Spike and Bandai Namco have in store with Sparking Zero, there are some individuals who are always looking to nitpick and find flaws even in something that looks as extraordinary as the next Budokai Tenkaichi game.

These feelings started to become more prominent after the recent gameplay showcase that the developers revealed, but fortunately, the upcoming title seems to be doing enough right for the negatives to become somewhat negligible.

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Can Be a Wonderful Trip Down Memory Lane

Putting all the uncalled for negative feedback aside, a Dragon Ball fan took to the Tenkaichi 4 subreddit and asked the community about its favorite aspects of the upcoming Sparking Zero.

Enough negatives, what’s your favorite positive of the game

The Reddit user noted that the fact that the game is bringing back the numerous eras from DB history, ranging from the original anime and DBZ all the way to GT and Super, is a “top tier feature.” Considering how it has been a long time since the OG anime aired, experiencing all the iconic sagas in-game seems to be a better, quicker, and more interactive way to revisit the otherwise long story than rewatching the various series.

This is why Sparking Zero has the opportunity to be a wonderful trip down memory lane for those fans who have not gone back to the epic tales of Dragon Ball in a while. Seeing Vegeta from his early Scouter days in a Budokai Tenkaichi video game in 2024 is already quite crazy, but witnessing him transform into his Great Ape form is just a nostalgic punch in the gut.

The Redditor pointed out that “the possibilities are endless,” as the upcoming video game has so much source material it could adapt, even potentially bringing in intense film antagonists such as Super Android 13 and Bojack with modern technological upgrades.

Getting a Budokai Tenkaichi Installment in 2024 Is Crazy in the Best Way

Who would have thought that a new Budokai Tenkaichi game would come out nearly two decades later?

The fact that a new Budokai Tenkaichi title even exists seems unbelievable for OG Dragon Ball fans, and the respect for Spike Chunsoft as a developer has increased in the community thanks to Sparking Zero.

Regardless of how the game actually turns out to be when released, for now, it looks like it is doing everything right, from the “awesome visuals” to the “huge roster.”
