Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is just a few weeks away from release, as fans will finally get to play it on October 20. As the hype continues, fans over on Reddit have a few ideas of side quests they would like to see for the upcoming sequel. It has already been confirmed that Venom, Kraven, and the Lizard are going to be the main antagonists in the story, but what about the side villains?

After all, the Marvel’s Spider-Man universe is chock full of villains, with many more yet to be introduced. Here are some characters fans would like to see as side missions in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Swarm in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

The first pick the thread starts off with is Swarm. As one of Adolf Hitler’s top scientists, Fritz von Meyer specialized in the study of bees.

After the fallout of World War II, von Meyer escaped to South America and continued his research on bees. After finding a mutant bee colony, von Meyer lost control of the bees and died in the process. However, his consciousness transferred into the bees, thus creating Swarm.

He may not have fully appeared in any of the Marvel’s Spider-Man video games, but in Just the Facts with J. Jonah Jameson, Swarm is mentioned as the “Nazi made out of bees“.

Furthermore, if you’ve explored other Marvel’s Spider-Man media, such as the comic books, you might remember Swarm making an appearance in Marvel’s Spider-Man: City at War issue #2.

The comic book is a re-telling of the 2018 game, but with new scenes and a more fleshed-out story for our characters. For reference, the comic introduces Miles in the first issue as opposed to saving his appearance for the helicopter sequence.

In issue #2, Miles is texting Ganke about the new Spider-Man video that dropped online. It’s Spider-Man fighting Swarm, confirming his existence in the Marvel’s Spider-Man universe. Spidey used the electric webs to take down Swarm, impressing Miles.

His appearance in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 seems unlikely but is possible in DLC or another sequel. Swarm could make a good villain for side missions, using the bees to cause random encounters or a new enemy type requiring electricity. His full appearance in a video game has yet to be seen, but that could change in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Morbius in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

A more iconic Spider-Man villain, Morbius is another requested character for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s side missions. The interpretation of the character by Jared Leto in 2022 (for better or worse) made Morbius more popular among general audiences. Morbius is already planted in Marvel’s Spider-Man, but not under Dr. Michael Morbius.

Remember Dr. Morgan Michaels? He is responsible for the Devil’s Breath alongside the mass antidote at the end of Marvel’s Spider-Man. While Insomniac Games has not made any moves to create Morbius in their universe, it can change that in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

The developers would likely want Michaels’ downfall into Morbius to happen slowly and methodically (similar to Dr. Octavious). If Insomniac Games ever do turn Dr. Morgan Michaels into the Living Vampire, I’m sure its interpretation of Morbius will be spectacular.

Chameleon in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

One of the last villains mentioned in this thread is Chameleon. Similar to Swarm, the Chameleon was mentioned in Marvel’s Spider-Man in a side mission. Called “Spider-Men”, Peter is looking for an imposter of Spider-Man. After a few civilian interviews, Peter says:

Someone’s impersonating me…could be the Chameleon again. I’ve got to pick up his trail.

Confirming Chameleon’s existence in the Marvel’s Spider-Man universe, could he play a role in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2? From the looks of it, Peter has already fought the Chameleon after his many years of being the wall-crawler.

If this villain would return in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, side missions would be perfect. Using the aftermaths of crime scenes to set up the missions as Peter or Miles come in to clean up. On each subsequent mission, the Spider-Men get closer to finding the Chameleon.
