Spider-Man’s original trilogy in the MCU has closed out, setting up a whole new world for the character in a familiar situation. Gone is Tony Stark’s backing for the young hero, and so is the support of his beloved Aunt May, who met her tragic end at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

In the absence of any Spider-Man news from the MCU, fans have come up with their own content to keep themselves hyped for the franchise. One such piece of content that has been generated by fans is the trailer for the next instalment of the Spider-Man IP, which focuses on one of the character’s most iconic foes: Venom.

The trailer, which fans have been praising on the internet, shows a villainous variant of Eddie Brock, battling Spide-Man. However, the young hero comes in contact with Sony’s Venom Symbiote, at least the part that he left behind when Spider-Man caused a breach in the Multiverse.

The trailer intercuts a bunch of clips from previous Spider-Man films and games, while also stitching together clips from Tom Hardy’s appearance as Venom. The fan trailer sees the two clash, with Spider-Man being kicked out by Venom,  but also debuting his black suit, which has been a mainstay of his appearances in almost every iteration of the character.

The plot that the fan trailer might be getting at, will set up a hunt where Venom goes after Spider-Man after he is infused with the Venom symbiote. The focus, according to the fan trailer, was going to be on Venom trying to retrieve a piece of the symbiote, one that is bonded to Peter Parker.

Apart from Venom, the film also focuses on two other villains of the franchise: Vulture and Scorpion. As revealed in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Mac Gargan, The Scorpion, is serving prison time, while also being in contact with the Vulture, Adrian Toomes. We know that another street-level villain, Wilson Fisk, escaped from prison thanks to the Blip, so it is safe to assume that the trailer was trying to play off of that for the two villains.

Squarely absent from any of the footage was Ned Leeds, even if Zendaya’s MJ got a cameo in the trailer. Rumours have been swirling that Spider-Man 4 will feature a villain that has yet to be adapted into live-action, so speculations may reveal to us what Spider-Man 4 would actually look like. However, if you cannot wait for some official news, you can watch the fan-made trailer here:

Spider-Man: New Home, while not being an official trailer, does scratch the Spider-itch that a lot of fans have been feeling. With no mentions of Peter Parker even in other properties, it feels as though the characters might see the light of day in a while. It can be assumed that the character would rather appear in a cameo or in a team-up before we get a stand-alone sequel for the character.
