Spider-Man 4: Tom Holland’s Peter Parker Should Bring One Iconic Villain to the Screen Who Has Never Appeared in Live-Action Before

This villain came from the same experiment that produced some other street-level heroes, who may or may not be canon in the MCU.

Spider-Man 4: Tom Holland’s Peter Parker Should Bring One Iconic Villain to the Screen Who Has Never Appeared in Live-Action Before

SUMMARY

  • Spider-Man 4 could introduce Mister Negative in the MCU, while also strengthening the ranks of the street-level villains.
  • Mister Negative could serve as an intellectual and physical challenge to Perter Parker, owing to his strength.
  • Mister Negative also was a part of the experiment that produced Cloak and Dagger, who like many vigilantes, made their appearance in Spider-Man comics.

Spider-Man: No Way Home left the superhero in a completely new position. Gone are the days when Parker would have had access to technology and resources beyond his means. The character is now closer to his comic roots, which means he will be rubbing shoulders with street-level vigilantes a lot more than with full-fledged Avengers.

Given that The Kingpin is going to become the ‘Thanos’ of these street-level vigilantes, Spider-Man could be the vehicle to populate the streets with iconic heroes and villains. There is one villain in particular who needs to make a live-action appearance, given that his origin story is connected to another duo of heroes who could aid the likes of Spider-Man, Daredevil and Moon Knight to clean up the streets.

Martin Li, or Mister Negative
Martin Li, or Mister Negative

Spider-Man villain Martin Li is yet to make a live-action debut in any of the Spider-Man universes. As one of the more obscure members of the web-slinger’s rogue’s gallery, Martin Li has recently become a bigger part of the Spider-Man universe, playing a key role in Spider-Man (2018).

Martin Li’s powers might seem similar to Electro’s, but have a lot more going on for them. Not only is the character an intellectual challenge to Peter, as he has access to multiple secret tech labs, but he is also a physical challenge to Peter Parker, having superhuman strength and reflexes to match Peter’s powers. However, there is another interesting connection between Martin Li and another set of heroes, who might have already made their debut in the MCU.

Cloak and Dagger could become part of the MCU

While a Cloak & Dagger show already exists from Marvel, the canonicity of it with wider MCU is up for question. Martin Li became Mister Negative from the same experiment that would later produce Cloak and Dagger. Cloak and Dagger are street-level vigilantes that made their first appearance in Peter Parker, Spectacular Spider-Man #64, released in 1982.

Martin Li, Cloak, and Dagger would make wonderful additions to Spider-Man’s mythos in the MCU, whilst also introducing a few henchmen for The Kingpin to throw at our street-level heroes while they try to clean up their cities.

Characters like Daredevil have already made their debut in the MCU through the Spider-Man franchise, and other street-level vigilantes could too, given that all of the Defenders introduced in the MCU have a history with Parker. However, their united forced fighting against Kingpin could finally recapture the lost audiences of the MCU.
