Tom Holland Reference in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Trailer

Spider-Man is one of the most popular superheroes and fans love to follow up with his story. Considering their presence in both Sony and Marvel, fans have been curious if they would ever see a crossover between the two worlds. After Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire shared the screen in No Way Home, fans have also been expecting to see them alongside Miles Morales in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

And the new trailer made some similar references. The trailer shows how Miles meets a group of Spider-Men. When he meets their leader Miguel O’Hara, aka Spider-Man 2099, he seems frustrated with a Spider variant from Earth-199999.

“Don’t even get me started on Doctor Strange and the little nerd on back on Earth-199999!” he says to Miles. The reference is considered to be related to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the MCU. Although it is often described as Prime Earth and comic, Doctor Strange calls the MCU Earth-616 in the Multiverse of Madness

However, it is also believed that MCU does exist on Earth-199999 and is known in-universe as Earth-616. It is unclear on which Earth the events of the MCU take place, but it seems likely that Spider-Man 2099 could be referencing the chaotic events of the 2021 Marvel film, Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The international trailer starts with a voiceover from the three Spider-Man actors, along with their respective logos. The trailer then moves ahead with Miles Morales, who is introduced as the one Spider-Man who “will change his destiny.”

It is unclear if the No Way Home stars would actually appear in the film, but it seems to confirm that all these stories happen alongside each other. And it also opens up a possible crossover between Peter Parker and Miles Morales in future MCU movies.
