Foamstars, the 4v4 party shooter title developed by Toylogic and published by Square Enix, was released for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on February 6, 2024. The game was first announced during the PlayStation State of Play event last year and sees players engage in battles using foam to attack or defend against opponents.
The game has several characters to choose from and dynamic game modes to play, but it has not done well so far, and only a small number of players are playing the game. Foamstars has now got a new update and is giving out a free celebration item to celebrate the launch and also in an attempt to attract new players to the half-dead game.
Foamstars Update 1.05 Launches With A Free ‘Celebration’ Item
Foamstars Update 1.05 was released today and brings several improvements and bug fixes to improve the experience. The update 1.05 fixes all the issues that previously hindered the player’s experience and adds new features. Square Enix is giving out a brand-new Slideboard skin as a Launch Celebration item to players joining the game.
The Slideboard skin is called “We Are FOAMSTARS” and will be available for all players for free when they log into the game. Players can now download the update on their devices and obtain the brand-new skin. The special Slideboard skin can be equipped from the “Customization” menu.
The update also brings fixes to known bugs and issues in Foamstars. It fixes the issue not allowing players to control the Rubber Duck during the Rubber Duck Party game mode, and now players can take control of the duck. Rubber Duck Party is a game mode where players need to capture the duck and push it to their opponent’s base to win.
Several changes have also been made to the game’s internal data ahead of the next season update, which is still without a date. This will allow players to use all the features in-game.
Foamstars Has Not Impressed Many So Far
Foamstars has received mixed reviews from both fans and critics and has a Metascore of 59. Players first had fun in Foamstars with its engaging gameplay, combat mechanics, sound, and animation, but it also drove players away with its bland single-player content, aggressive monetization, and several in-game issues.
Players have faced communication issues during the matches, data-saving errors while in lounges, and more. Although these issues have been fixed by the developer, players have complained that they still face them.
The game has ranked maps and modes for players to compete in, but the waiting in queue for matchmaking has also irritated players to the point that they have asked the developer to bring more bots to end the wait to get into a match.
