For the longest time, Star Wars has been a franchise that has gone through a lot. Video games, comic books, movies, and TV shows have barely scratched the surface of what this massive universe holds. Star Wars Outlaws is Ubisoft’s attempt at doing something magical with all the stories to be told in this narrative.

Set in the underbelly of a criminal world, Outlaws tries to tell a unique story with its characters. Narrative director Navid Khavari is well aware of the expectations around the game, and his attachment to the franchise is reflected in the game’s vision.

Star Wars Outlaws is setting high standards for itself. It’s an open-world adventure game that sets the tone for an experience players may otherwise not be familiar with. In Game Informer’s interview with the narrative director, Navid Khavari, many things came to light about the importance of the development journey so far.

Navid Khavari pointed out how the game is going to keep in mind the legacy and epicness of the franchise, with a focus on cinematic sequences:

We do aim to be very cinematic and pay homage to the filmic history of Star Wars, so you can see in our gameplay there is some barrel distortion, lens flare, film grain, and more that really evoke the classic era of Star Wars and create a cinematic experience.

We look forward to showing more in the future, but a lot of work has gone into producing this classic original trilogy look and feel for the game.

In the article, Naval stated that his love for the Star Wars saga has held a special place in the game’s development. All the lore/planets fans are familiar with will have a place in the game in the forms of references, story pieces, and much more.

How Is Star Wars Outlaws Different From Other Games?

New characters and factions are likely to bring more novelty to Star Wars Outlaws.

In games like Star Wars Jedi or Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, players take the role of someone important to the First Order or the Galactic Republic in some shape, way, or form. These games often tell a story larger than life.

However, in Star Wars Outlaws, the tales to be spoken of are smaller and take part in a universe that’s relatively unknown to fans and gamers alike. For example, Toshara is the latest addition to the universe and lets players explore a world inspired by geographical places similar to Eastern Africa.

Star Wars Outlaws also includes new factions, clans, and characters. Furthermore, playing through some of the darker and grittier themes in an open-world setting thrives as an open canvas for Ubisoft to work its magic.
