Starfield was released on September 6th to generally positive reviews across the board. However, it hasn’t been all smooth sailing for Starfield with there being some criticisms of the game as well. Some of them, such as bugs, glitches, and performance issues, will be relatively easy to iron out through regular patches but others will be tougher since they are a core part of the gameplay. The main criticisms stem from the game’s implementation of space travel and exploration, not allowing seamless transitions from planet to planet and using lots of menus and loading screens which break the immersion. Now, one player has found a trick to explore the in-game universe.

What is the trick to make exploration easier in Starfield?

As players of Starfield will no doubt know, when they are in space they can pull open their space map which will show them nearby star systems they can travel to. What most players won’t know, however, is that each of these stars is programmed in the categories of which stars players have previously visited, which they are within distance of, and which they will have to Grav Jump to.

One Starfield player on Reddit was the one who pointed this out, and further elaborated that if a star is alighted with a halo, that system has already been visited. If there is no glow or halo, that system hasn’t been visited but is accessible from the player’s current location. Lastly, if a star is red players will have no choice but to Grav Jump there rather than fly there directly.

The game never explains this feature, which is why many players had no idea, simply assuming that the color coding was related to the difficult level rather than space exploration.

How can space travel be made quicker in Starfield?

Many players of Starfield assume that they simply have to go through the menu to travel from one planet to another, but that isn’t actually the case. As per a video uploaded by Huggan00 on the game’s official subreddit, players can actually travel to planets by pointing the ship’s scanner at any potential destination followed by the Grav Jump. Through this method, players can travel and make the jump without using the menu at all.

Similar to this method is one that allows players to land on planets directly, as they simply have to point the ship’s scanner at any of the key areas of the planet, and can travel there immediately. Like the last method, this one doesn’t require players to use the menu in Starfield either, significantly improving immersion and making the whole process smoother.
