So much so that this was apparently the best week for sales so far. And given that we are three quarters of the way through the year, this is quite a telling statistic.

Bethesda’s space exploration epic was highly anticipated by Xbox fans

As reports suggest, the sales in the UK of the Xbox Series S & X jumped a whopping 76% upon the launch of Starfield. Which only goes to highlight how massive the hype was for the space exploration game.

And just to further highlight that this statistic was for sales up to 2 September. So not even inclusive of the official console launch date for Starfield itself. But could this figure be PlayStation users who have decided to invest in a 2nd console just to experience the Bethesda epic for themselves?

Well not surprisingly, the sales figures for Xbox Series S and Series X,  up to 9 September have been the second best week on record for the company. But again, it should be noted that this is for the UK only. It would be interesting to see how this is reflected in worldwide sales.

Sales of Xbox consoles have increased substantially thanks to Starfield

The data which was compiled by German market research company, GFK, stated that 24% of all Xbox console sales were partially down to the launch of the 1TB Xbox Series S. The new version costing £50 more than that of the standard version.

But GFK confirmed that the catalyst for the increase in sales was indeed down to the launch of Starfield. Although the official console launch was on 6 September, it was available to those willing to pay for the Premium edition on 1 September.

As a result, the sales of the standard Xbox Series X saw a remarkable increase of 46% for the UK, this being the week up to 2 September.

And GFK games boss Dorian Bloch had the following to say on a remarkable couple of weeks for sales;

“It is currently the best week this year for Series X. And the following week [ending September 9th] is the fourth best for X. In-between is week one and week six, which were early year blips.”
