According to a report from Insider Gaming, files were uncovered from SteamDB that indicate that there may be some new content for Starfield coming out sometime soon named an “unknown app” in the section where DLCs can be found. The same section also contains details for downloadable content for fellow Bethesda game, Fallout 4, adding more speculation that the developers are working on something but holding on to it before a big reveal.

Downloadable content can be a hit-and-miss, especially if it fails to live up to the hype and accomplish its function by adding something to the base game or expanding it in some way. Bethesda Games Studios is well-known for its large games and making them even larger with DLCs. The Skyrim and Fallout series have taken advantage of each new expansion to remain relevant despite dwindling player count.

In recent memory, DLCs have been more dominant than it was before especially for triple-A games like God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla which was an in-game rogue-lite side content that allows players to challenge themselves in a never-ending gauntlet of enemies. Players will have to access the DLC from the main menu but it narratively takes place after the main game’s finale which makes it an epilogue, perhaps Shattered Space could be the same.

Starfield has been on the radar of gamers ever since the 2018 announcement and a lot has happened since then, the biggest would be the Microsoft acquisition. The buyout could indicate that all new projects would be exclusive to their flagship console: the Xbox. Although the possibility of the game being shipped to rival platforms like the PlayStation 5 is high given the high amount of users.

Despite being critically acclaimed by reviewers and fans from all over the globe, Starfield is slowly receding in terms of active users. The Shattered Space DLC could help Bethesda turn this whole situation upside down by adding some quality content that will give players a reason to spend another few hundred hours.

Starfield is an ambitious space exploration title that could use all the help it can get to survive both the rigors of space and fan’s expectations. Are you excited for the expansion? Let us know in the comments below!
