As far as reboots go, even movies have received quite a bit of backlash when sometimes the reboots change too many things compared to the original. The same was the case with the Saints Row reboot released last year, as the 2022 version just didn’t resonate with fans of the franchise. Right off the gate, fans let their disappointments known from the initial reveal and announcement of the reboot that showcased a lot of over-the-top action. The new set of cast in the reboot also just didn’t work with the fans of the series.

Principal Designer for the game, Damien Allen, tried to explain the plethora of changes as being a balancing act, between the original and the reboot and how the series is just moving forward with the times. He went on to address fan hatred shown towards the reboot by saying he believes old and new players will end up falling in love with the game, eventually, once they try the game.

Saints Row also had a lot of comparisons made to Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto 5. While Saints Row is a single-player story, the GTA version has a lot going on and is a lot more mature comparatively when it comes to both characters and the overall theme of the game. Grand Theft Auto Online‘s multiplayer experience which has seen a massive evolution is also far better now in comparison to Saints Row‘s multiplayer campaign which was fun in its own right.

Steam lists a mixed set of reviews for the game from the fans, as the game is now selling at a massive discount. For gamers who have yet to try the game, this might just be the perfect time to grab the game from Steam for less than half the original price.

Steam continues to deliver massive discounts on major titles. This time, the reboot from Volition Saints Row, released last year and added to Steam early this year has received a 67% discount. The game launched on Steam at a price of $59.99 but gamers can grab the game for as low as $19.79 as the game’s on sale until 31st of August. There’s not a lot of time left so gamers who haven’t yet tried the game can grab it for less than $20.

The Gold Edition currently costs $29.69 and includes an Expansion Pass and the Los Panteros American Muscle Bundle, while the Platinum Edition costs $32.99 which includes the Gold Edition goodies as well as Saints Row: The Third Remastered title. The Expansion Pass has the following content:

  • The Heist & The Hazardous campaign expansion
  • A Song of Ice & Dust campaign expansion
  • Doc Ketchum’s Murder Circus mode
  • Going Commando pack
  • Chicken Dinner pack

The Platinum Edition is the best option for players to consider, given the fact that after the current deal ends, the base game will cost almost double the cost of what the Platinum Edition is currently on sale for. Gamers who can’t get enough crime and heists in GTA 5 or GTA Online can definitely try Saints Row for more mayhem and a completely different experience.
