Director Hyung-Tae Kim Reveals the Origins of Stellar Blade
It is always an exciting time for a new video game to be released and for developers to take the time to sit down and chat for interviews and share stories during production. The game was originally called Project Eve, but in an interview, the South Korean director thought of a better one and it was quite literal in terms of translation.
The meaning of "Stellar Blade" ✨ #StellarBlade
"'Stellar' comes from the Latin word 'stella' meaning 'star'… The main character, Eve, was born in space, trained to reclaim the earth, and comes down to earth with a sword in her hand. So the title 'Stellar Blade' means 'Sword… pic.twitter.com/d3kiboHRnn

Coming up with a title can be tricky and has a lot of power to attract the public, but Kim looked into Latin translations, and it worked in his favor. The literal translation is Sword from the Stars which is quite fitting for how the studio depicted Eve. The epic title is a great one for Shift Up’s attempt to leap from mobile gaming to console which was a major and bold move for South Korean game developers. Kim likens the main character Eve to one of the stars with a mission to reclaim Earth, and it is a perfect match for his vision to show strong female characters.
Eve has captured the imagination of the gaming community with its ambitious nature, prompting an outpouring of support and allegiance from avid gamers across the globe. With its immersive gameplay, stunning graphics, and captivating storyline, Eve has quickly become the talk of the town, generating a buzz that has cemented its place in the pantheon of video game legends.
Stellar Blade Is Hyung Tae-Kim’s Take on the Futuristic Genre
The video game features many similar themes and has the same atmosphere as many cyberpunk-inspired stories like James Cameron’s Alita: Battle Angel and this project is a passion project of sorts and his attempt to make a better version out of it. The epic scale and scope and the intense combat that resembles the Soulslike genre make for a potent mix for a successful PlayStation title.
An impactful and attention-grabbing title is a crucial component in marketing and promoting a video game. The title acts as the first impression for potential players and influences their decision to purchase and play the game. A grand title that is creative, catchy, and relevant to the game’s genre and storyline can increase the game’s visibility and attract a larger audience.
Therefore, developers and publishers must invest time and effort in creating a title that accurately conveys the game’s essence and creates excitement and anticipation among gamers. It is safe to assume Kim’s attempt to give his video game a perfect title is quite stellar.
