During the production of Stellar Blade, the developers behind the game, Shift Up, worked tirelessly on the project to ensure its quality, but one additional aspect of the game’s development didn’t come into effect until after the CEO of Shift Up contacted Sony on one faithful day.

During this phone call between Shift Up’s CEO Kim Hyung Tae and Shuhei Yoshida, who was previously the president of SIE Worldwide Studios, a reshuffle in the company led to his move to a newly informed initiative that is focused on supporting external companies and when creating new and unexpected experiences.

Luckily, during a trip to South Korea, Kim Hyung Tae contacted Sony, which led to Shuhei Yoshida making a trip to Shift Up’s studio and trying out the game for themselves. In this coincidental situation, Shift Up managed to create a new relationship with Sony, leading to the collaboration between the two companies.

The Project Might Have Been in a Rough Situation if Sony Didn’t Come Along and Provided Assistance

Sony provided a lot of help to bring Stellar Blade to our consoles.

Even though Shift Up is a rather large company and could have likely created Stellar Blade on its own, it has been largely assisted by its collaboration with Sony, as both companies have assisted each other in creating a fantastic new experience for gamers to enjoy.

Along with the joint effort to create Stellar Blade, there is also the bonus added that Stellar Blade will be a PlayStation exclusive rather than being released on numerous titles all at once, providing it with a rather unique atmosphere that players can only enjoy if they own a PlayStation.

During the game’s production, Sony managed to bring a lot of features within Stellar Blade that Shift Up wouldn’t have been able to manage on its own. This happened due to Sony providing different tools for Shift Up to use in the game’s production while also allowing for localization of the title so that it includes 22 different languages for players to choose from and many more features.
