A still from Stellar Blade

Everyone is aware that Stellar Blade is an action hack-and-slash game that takes inspiration from games like Sekiro and Devil May Cry. But knowing how a game plays is not enough; people want detailed information on a title before it launches, so they can decide if they should or should not buy it.

During a recent interview, director Kim Hyung-tae gave fans some crucial details about his upcoming game. Details about its runtime, its game modes, and every expansion that it might get in the coming months.

According to him, the Stellar Blade has an approximate runtime of around 20–25 hours. This is only when players focus on its main story; if they go around doing all the side quests, they would end up spending around 0–25 hours in this game.

And finally, if one decides to collect all the collectibles alongside completing everything else, then this game would take around 40 hours to complete. This is a hefty runtime for the time when some AAA games have a runtime of around 3 hours.

For gamers who found the demo to be too easy, they would find themselves playing the whole game on that difficulty setting. But the good news is that Hard Mode is unlocked when they complete the game once.

It is also revealed that the game will mostly have a linear storyline to follow. But once players reach the main city, they will unlock areas such as the Great Desert and the wasteland as semi-open world areas. Players would then be able to explore them without any issues.

For fans wondering about the enemy and monster design in Stellar Blade, these characters were designed this way to justify this game’s mature age rating. The director suggests that this game is meant for a mature audience; hence, they decided to give it such a grotesque enemy design. It’s good too, so good that people are comparing it to Bloodborne.

Would Stellar Blade feature an expansion in the future?

A still from Stellar Blade

The developer has suggested that they currently have no plans to release any expansions for Stellar Blade. They suggested that they have already included all the content in the base game only, and that’s why this game can be considered complete at the moment.

This may or may not change in the future, but given how they are mostly focused on just releasing a sequel, a DLC might not be in the plans at all.
