This character has created a lot of controversy over the past few weeks, whether it be by those who aren’t fans of the character’s design or by those who absolutely love the model and cannot wait to play the game. But according to the developers, only a select portion of the character model was created using a real-life model, and they chose this specific part of the model for one specific reason.

Stellar Blade’s Character Model for Eve Was Only Used for Her Body, Not Even Her Face

When it comes to developing a video game, most developers rely on using a real human being as a starting point for creating its characters. Doing this provides characters with a more realistic look and makes the life of a developer so much easier as they are able to use character mapping to speed up the process and to design a person with more detail.

The character model who was used to create Eve was a model by the name of Shin Jae-eun, which provided the developer ShiftUp with the option to create one of the most unique characters that we will see for a very long time, but oddly enough, the only part of the character model that was used by Shiftup was Shin Jae-eun’s body.

According to an interview with PushSquare, the reason behind this choice was because they wanted to create a character that was arguably the most attractive-looking body they could create. For many reasons, this could prove a challenge, as attractiveness is subjective, but this was a challenge that ShiftUp was willing to attempt, and strangely enough, the characters faces were developed in-house.

How Did Choosing Shin Jae-Eun Affect the Characters Design in Stellar Blade?

The reason the Korean model Shin Jae-eun was chosen for this role was because she fit the character that the development team was already pursuing for Stellar Blade. This meant that the team didn’t have to change how they saw their character while also being able to ensure that they created what they intended from the get-go.

From what we can see from the gameplay in Stellar Blade, it makes sense that the developers have gone with the character model they have to keep a sense of realism while also ensuring that the game looks good.

It is a shame that the developers only used Shin Jae-eun’s body for the character model of Eve, but since they are following a design, they have had since the start, it makes sense that they would adjust the character design to suit what they planned from the start.
