How I Met Your Mother recently celebrated the ten-year anniversary of its final episode. This takes us back to the time when the show left its fans in absolute shock and not for the right reasons! Fans were fully expecting Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) to finish telling his kids the story of how he met their mother, Tracy McConnell (Cristin Milioti).

However, he ends up revealing that Tracy has long passed away, to fans’ unpleasant surprise. Moreover, Ted’s narration leads him to realize his love for Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders). He ends up going back to Robin, who has been revealed to have separated from Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris).

While the series does a full circle in terms of Ted and Robin, fans were not at all pleased with the ending. Almost everyone was rooting for Ted and Tracy and the twist was not well-received by the majority of the fans. You could even say that her death felt too out of place and was a rushed attempt at reuniting Robin and Ted. Not to mention that the entire character development that took place over the nine seasons was turned to dust.

Apart from Ted’s relationships, fans were also upset about how Barney was portrayed in the finale, given that he is one of the fan-favorite characters. While all the main characters get their closure, the future of Barney remains a mystery. Many also felt that Barney becoming a father was completely random.
