Actress Jamie Lee Curtis is a highly accomplished actress in Hollywood who gained popularity thanks to her versatility and talented acting skills. The actress has played many roles in a wide variety of films, showcasing her ability to play all sorts of complex characters. One of the films that popularised her among a wider and modern audience was 1994’s True Lies.
Directed by James Cameron, True Lies also featured Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tom Arnold, Bill Paxton, Art Malik, and Tia Carrere. In the movie, there is a scene that required Curtis to strip tease in front of Schwarzenegger and the movie’s crew. As per the actress, that scene is the most empowering scene of her entire career.
Jamie Lee Curtis was nervous before filming the scene
When actress Jamie Lee Curtis was asked to film the strip tease scene in True Lies (1994), she was anxious at first, mainly because it was her first time doing something like this. In a past interview, the actress recalled,
“It was very early on in the shooting schedule, which made me a little anxious because it meant I should probably stop eating whatever the f**k I was eating and maybe do a couple of sit-ups, but I didn’t have time. There was no choreographer, and we only rehearsed it in the sense that we were made aware of the camera placement and marks to hit.”
Curtis believes that the scene is the most empowering scene of her Hollywood career. The movie was the 3rd highest-grossing film of 1994 and Curtis’ performance also got her first Screen Actors Guild Award nomination.
The actress performed the dance in front of 100 male crew members
In the scene, Curtis dances in front of Arnold Schwarzenegger to John Hiatt’s hit song Alone in the Dark. Further in the interview, Curtis explained that she had to do the dance in front of 100 “dudes.” She said,
“There was a moment when I shut my eyes and let go of it all, and there was pin-drop silence afterward. It was a powerful experience that nobody else could take credit for – it was just me, the music, three cameras, and approximately 100 dudes.”
The actress also explained that at one point, she got a little “too sexy” for James Cameron. The actress was so dedicated to the scene that Cameron had to remind her that it is a comedy film.

Jamie Lee Curtis started acting in the 1970s
Curtis’ first major role came in a 1977 episode of the drama series Quincy, M.E. Shortly after that, she made small appearances in several series, including Columbo, Charlie’s Angels, The Love Boat, and Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.
Her film debut came in 1978’s horror film Halloween, in which she played the role of Laurie Strode. The movie achieved significant success and Curtis earned the title of “scream queen.” Over the years, Curtis showcased her talent in a wide range of genres. Today, she serves as an inspiration for young artists and is one of the most iconic actresses in the history of Hollywood.
