Even though Dwayne Johnson had a slow start in his career, he has surely become one of the biggest names in the film industry. Throughout the years, the actor has gone on to create some of the biggest films that have left an indelible mark in the minds of the viewers and he has worked in almost every genre to showcase his acting range. Safe to say, the wrestler-turned-actor is globally the most recognized face who has a track record of the most consistent success at the box office.
While the Red Notice actor is deemed a figure with a massive fan following, he is facing immense backlash from his fans as he is reportedly being eyed for the lead of Jack Frost. The film is the remake of the 1998 movie, in which Michael Keaton played the lead role. However, Dwayne Johnson playing the lead role would change everything as some viewers have a lot of warm memories attached to the 1998 film.
Fans Aren’t Happy with Dwayne Johnson To Scar Their Christmas Memories
Dwayne Johnson has become a household name, as there is no doubt that he has become one of the biggest names, where he has worked in some of the most underrated gems that the fans would enjoy countless times, as his performance in those films was an all-time high. While his stardom was affected after his failure with DC’s Black Adam, that doesn’t change the fact that his charisma brings in a large number of viewers only with his name.
As a result, it is being reported by Geek Vibes Nation on X that The People’s Champ is reportedly being eyed for a remake of Michael Keaton starrer 1998 film Jack Frost. However, fans of the movie are not happy with the news as they criticized the decision and how they are not happy with their warm Christmas memories, and they shared their opinion on the social media platform.

Why?

The idea of Dwayne Johnson playing the role of Jack Frost in a remake does sound scary to fans of the original film because the Christmas fantasy film has a lot of memories. Though the film did not resonate well with the audience or the critics as Roger Ebert mentioned, “The snowman gave me the creeps. Never have I disliked a movie character more.” Regardless, the movie still managed to gain a fan following and became one of the Christmas special films.
George Clooney Was The Initial Choice For Jack Frost
Though Michael Keaton played the role of Jack Frost in the 1998 film, which narrated the story of a father who couldn’t keep his promise to his son, he returned as a snowman after a year to make things right with his son. However, the role of Jack Frost was initially offered to George Clooney, who had even signed for the project but later backed out.
The actor’s absence was immense as he was meant to play the role of the snowman, and the features had already been created by the visual effects company, Jim Benson’s Creature Shop. During an interview with LA Times, Matt J. Britton, the general manager of the Creature Shop, said that they would try to improvise the figure on the set to create a facial structure that resonated with Michael Keaton’s facial structure.
“Once it became Michael Keaton, we didn’t change the head completely. We did some signature things to the chin and to the lips because Michael Keaton has this little mouth and talks out of the front of his mouth.”
However, neither the changes nor the warm story resonated well with the viewers as the film ended up getting tanked at the box office. However, fans can rewatch the film again to notice the facial structure of George Clooney.
Jack Frost (1998) can be streamed on Hulu.
