Street Fighter 6 has been out for two months now, and is officially getting a new and very dangerous character as part of its season 1 DLC roster. The next combatant to join Capcom’s ever expanding universe is A.K.I. She is a tall, slim, Chinese woman with white hair that looks like it would be useful in the rain or cut around Raiden’s hate.
The umbrella haired fighter has a connection to F.A.N.G, the arch enemy of Rashid. She is a former Shadaloo member and previously appeared in Street Fighter V. Gameplay featuring A.K.I. in Street Fighter 6 was released at EVO 2023, although this was to attendants at the convention. In the meantime, players now have a teaser trailer to prepare them for her arrival, which is coming before the end of August.

A.K.I. will prove to be quite a dangerous foe in Street Fighter 6, as her primary weapon of choice are her sharp poisonous fingernails. In the teaser trailer, she is seen talking to a pedestrian, seemingly offering to sell him medicine. However, once he gets close, she oddly rolls on the ground to get near him.
Once in his vicinity, she extends one of the pointy fingernails and cuts him on the forehead. She then begins to explain the toxicity of the poison to her victim, who is beginning to experience its effects. She lists all of the symptoms he is about to experience, nearly on par with modern day prescription commercials and their endless list of side effects. Once falls to the ground in pain. she laughs maniacally as he begins to slowly die from her toxins.
As the Street Fighter 6 trailer closes, A.K.I continues to laugh as the screen goes black and an August 2023 release date is shown. If you are interested in checking out this trailer in anticipation for the character’s release, it can be found at the bottom of this article.
What is Street Fighter 6 and How Are Sales Around the World?
If you are unfamiliar with Street Fighter 6, it is the most recent expansion in a franchise that has been going strong since 1987. It released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Window on June 2 with a base roster of 18 fighters. It is powered by RE Engine and includes three game modes: World Tour, Fighting Ground, and Battle Hub. The title has a single player story mode, where players can explore Metro City, and learn from the masters who reside there.
Those who are interested in the main objectives can complete them in around 16 1/2 hours of game. However, there is much more to experience for gamers who love online competitive gameplay.
Street Fighter 6 has already had a great deal of success, selling one million units within five days of launch and two million units by the end of July. It has been especially popular in Japan, hitting high on charts across the country. The title is a critical success among a plethora of reviewers, and audiences are saying it is a fantastic new addition to the franchise.
It supports cross-platform play, has planned future DLC content, and continues a legacy of high quality fighting games. Fans will certainly keep their eye on the title, as Mortal Kombat 1 releases, to see how the two similarly styled fighter compare to each other.
