The teaser trailer for Suicide Squad ISEKAI was released on December 1, 2023. Along with the timeline for a premiere, the animated series’ plot and the star-studded voice cast have been officially disclosed.
In July 2023, Warner Bros. announced a collaboration with WIT Media to make Suicide Squad characters from DC Comics come to life. Eri Osada will direct the animation series after his contributions to Jujutsu Kaisen and Gintama. Osada will be joined by Re: Zero mangaka Tappei Nagatsuki and Eiji Umehara as the screenwriters, Naoto Hosoda as the character designer, and Akira Amano will be responsible for the original character drafts.
Suicide Squad ISEKAI Has An Experienced Voice Cast
The 80-second teaser trailer for Suicide Squad ISEKAI ends with a list of staff and cast members. Among the notable names of Jun Fukuyama and Yuichiro Umehara are Anna Nagase, Reigo Yamaguchi, Takehito Koyaso, and Subaru Kimura.
Yuichiro Umehara has been handed the iconic role of Joker in the ISEKAI anime. He has been in the anime voice-over industry since 2014, most notably known for playing the titular character in Goblin Slayer and Weather Report in Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure. Umehara’s Joker will be joined by Anna Nagase’s Harley Quinn, the voice actress who is set to play Mahoro in Bucchigiri?!
The massively experienced Jun Fukuyama, who has played Lelouch Lamperouge in Code Geass and King in The Seven Deadly Sins, will be starring as Clayface in Suicide Squad ISEKAI. Reigo Yamaguchi and Takehito Koyaso have been assigned the roles of Deadshot and Peacemaker. Lastly, the grunts and chomp voices of King Shark will be done by Subaru Kimura.
‘Another World’ is going to be the opening theme song for the upcoming Suicide Squad animation series. It will be performed by Tomoyasu Hotei with Kenichiro Suehiro as the composer.
Suicide Squad ISEKAI Release Date and Story
Although the teaser for Suicide Squad ISEKAI confirmed a release date of 2024, no fixed release date has been by Warner Bros. We can assume that the animated series will hit the TV screens following the release of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League video game on January 30. It would be the right time to capitalize on the Suicide Squad hype.
Suicide Squad ISEKAI will follow the traditional comic-based narrative featuring A.R.G.U.S. agent Amanda Waller controlling a group of criminals to carry out deadly missions. According to the trailer, Harley Quinn, Clayface, Deadshot, Peacemaker, and King Shark will seemingly have 60 hours to complete the task assigned by Waller, or else their heads will explode due to an attached device.
The Suicide Squad will be sent into an otherworldly realm of ISEKAI to defeat monsters and orcs. At the beginning of the trailer, Harley is seen asking Joker if he wants to “go to another world.” Thus, the Clown Prince of Crime is also expected to jump into the chaos of the ISEKAI world.
