Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, the third-action action shooter title from Rocksteady Studios, the studio behind Batman: Arkham games has been out for nearly a week now. The game hasn’t had the best launch as the fans and developer would have expected and saw several issues in just under 24 hours of its release.
The developer had to take it offline to fix it which only worsened the player’s experiences. The game has been criticized ever since it was first announced for multiple issues that a live-service game has and more. While Arkhamverse fans are disappointed with the game, they are flocking towards a better game in the series with a better Batman experience.
Suicide Squad launch causes a spike in Arkham Knight player numbers
As reported by TrueTrophies, Batman: Arkham Knight has seen a significant increase in player count before and after the launch week of Kill the Justice League. The data is based on nearly 3.2 million active PlayStation accounts. As per the gameplay data of the accounts, Arkham Knight saw an over 20% increase in players booting up the game ahead of the launch week of Suicide Squad.
The launch week of the game which ended on February 4, 2024, brought over a 25.94% increase in the player numbers of Arkham Knight on PS4 and PS5, surpassing the numbers before the release of the latest Rocksteady title. Overall, Arkham Knight saw an increase of over 51% percent in the last two weeks, despite a new game launch that is in the same universe as Arkham Knight.
This increase in player count is attributed to Kill the Justice League and its live-service future but it is also possible that players would have wanted to revisit the title before they went on to try the newly released game. TrueTrophies mentioned that a similar trend of players playing Arkham Knight was seen ahead of the release of Gotham Knights in 2020 and the player count shot up by 40%.
Kill the Justice League has a shockingly low player count
The game was released on February 2, 2024, and had a lackluster player count even on launch day. According to SteamDB, the game saw a peak player count of 12,667 players on day one. This has not improved as of now as well as the game only has 2,248 players currently in the game and the 24-hour peak player count is 5,803 players only.
Moreover, the the highest player peak of the new title is only 13,459 since launch which was recorded five days back meaning the game is not doing well. This also indicates that the game might not be around to even bring the one year of updates that it has planned and revealed to the players.
Batman: Arkham Knight is one of the most popular superhero games of all time and Rocksteady has been a fan-favorite studio because of the Arkham titles. However, the Suicide Squad game has not been received well by the players and the massive surge in numbers after the launch week proves that the nearly 9-year-old Arkhamverse title is still way better.
