After the almost-perfect Batman Arkham Trilogy, it seems that Rocksteady could not be wrong. But the decision from Warner Bros. Games to make a looter-shooter title was as bad as Marvel’s Avengers

A popular Batman account from X shared the number of active players in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which is at an all-time low, indicating that the game is on the verge of being completely abandoned. WB Games has just released the trailer for the new Batman Arkham Shadow, proving that it is moving away from this recent failure.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Has Reached a New Low

Since its announcement back in 2020 and having Rocksteady as the studio behind the project, fans were very excited about Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League at first. With the release of new trailers and gameplay, the initial excitement dissipated, and the failure of titles such as Marvel’s Avengers left players disinterested in looter-shooter mechanics and the need to destroy endless waves of nonsensical robots. This, among other things, resulted in the game’s complete demise.

The X account Beware the Batman has gone viral with a post that shows the current players of the game on Steam. The user demonstrated using SteamDB that the Rocksteady title had only 87 active players, an all-time low for the game.

Some fans saw it coming, whilst others just found it depressing – even more so with the latest Arkham: Shadow announcement.

In the replies to the post, many users were not shocked at all of these numbers, saying that this game was terrible, and it makes sense that less than three months after its launch, there aren’t any players left.

Warner Bros. Is Moving on With Titles Like Batman Arkham Shadow

This week, Warner Bros. Games revealed a new VR game for Meta Quest 3 called Batman Arkham Shadow. The main company, which owns the DC superheroes, is demonstrating its commitment to breaking free from the confines of a single game and has already pushed for the release of this new title at the Summer Game Fest. This new IP will have Arkham in the name, but Rocksteady is not involved in any way or form; it’s an Oculus-exclusive title.

Fans have not received Batman Arkham Shadow well. Following the failure of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, players are eagerly awaiting a DC character-based game that is at least average. Titles like Gotham Knights are ruining the possibilities for WB Games to have a better reputation; the fandom is tired of the generic games that are just pointless. The studio needs to invest in new and original projects.

The next game from the DC universe will be the Wonder Woman game from Monolith, which was revealed in 2021. The studio behind the project is Monolith, the creators of the Shadow of Mordor saga. The title will be single-player and will only be focused on the journey of this popular superhero. Marvel is working on several games based on superheroes, including Iron Man, Black Panther, and Blade.

I'm a big fan of movies and videogames in general. I really love Pokémon and Godzilla. One of my favorite games is The Last of Us, Part II. A compelling and well-written story is always welcome.
