In response to a recent tweet, the CEO of DC Studios claimed that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League isn’t a final game. Instead, the Arkham Universe is likely to see more entries from multiple franchises.

Arkhamverse Will See More Entries, Just Like Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

While there's no official word about it, we can only imagine the kind of games to be added to the Arkhamverse going forward.

It’s well known that James Gunn’s passion for DC projects is filled with inspiration and hope for future movies and TV shows. In fact, at the moment, he’s in charge of things behind Superman: Legacy. However, this extends beyond the screen into video games that are willing to capture the magic of DCEU and all the characters loved by fans.

According to a recent tweet, James seems to have hinted at a bright future for Arkhamverse games. While the tweet on the thread was deleted, user Dcu Updates tweeted about the same. This makes for exciting news for everyone who has been a fan of the Arkham games, as well as those who are eagerly waiting for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The game will arrive on February 2, 2024, on consoles and PCs.

It’s important to note that when James Gunn found himself in charge of quite a few things at DC, he spoke his mind and let people know that it’s completely fine for studios to run their own thing and use their creative freedom to their best.

The Arkhamverse Has Gained Popularity Over the Years, and It’s Unlikely the Hype Will Die Anytime Soon

As the DCEU progresses, so does the potential for upcoming games set in the same universe.

Previously, James Gunn has shown his affection for Batman: Arkham games, and his vision for the DCEU is something that shouldn’t be taken lightly. After all, whatever happens at one end of the franchise can reflect on how things look for the video game version of it. That’s the beauty of transmedia narratives; characters, stories, and other source material find multiple ways of harnessing the universe built around them.

The recent launch of Batman: Arkham Trilogy may have been a late entry for Nintendo fans of the Arkhamverse, but it’s better late than never. The launch even featured a new Batman suit for players, and suddenly a conversation around Gotham’s caped vigilante was a trending one.

At the moment, since nothing is official, fans can only hope (and perhaps wish?) what the next game could be. Quite a few comments and Twitter threads online talk about a possible Superman game set in an open world. Meanwhile, others think of The Flash and Wonder Woman making an entry into the Arkhamverse. That would make sense, considering recent films and all that’s been going on in the DCEU.

While there has been some skepticism about Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League being a game that’s dipping its toes in a live-service gameplay business model, Rocksteady Studio has made it official that the game will eventually receive an offline mode. Moreover, while the game doesn’t look or feel much like the popular Arkham games that came before it, it’s certainly a welcome addition to the Arkhamverse.

We can only imagine how it’ll create enough noise for fans of the franchise(s) and inspire people to speculate and create their own theories about what kind of games we can see in the future that would embody DCEU at its finest.
