Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s take on familiar and new faces from the DC universe may raise an eyebrow or two. Among the vast roster of characters players will be crossing paths with, there’s one in particular who has stood the test of time (and often, universes) across different portrayals on a variety of screens.

Batman’s very own complicated antagonist has a unique look in the game, and there’s a reason for it. In a Q&A session on the game’s official Discord server, devs answered an essential question about Joker’s unique design and what it means for the game.

Joker’s New Look Comes from an Explosive Past

Joker’s new look is a result of experimentation and faith in a different voice actor.

At first glance, fans might wonder what went wrong with Joker’s foot. The prosthetic limb might not make sense at first, but there’s more to it. When questions were answered on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s Discord server, one of the key pieces of information about the Joker’s fresh design had something to do with an event that took place in the past.

Apparently, one of Joker’s shenanigans with explosives led to a mishap, which in turn blew his leg off. Clearly, safety wasn’t a priority, and this led to him getting a prosthetic leg, which in turn added to the character’s personality. Furthermore, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s art team focused on making the character’s make-up a little messed up on purpose, despite looking a bit more presentable overall than how fans usually perceive him.

We wanted our Joker to stand on is own one foot and be his own person. As you can see, the art teams have done an amazing job on his look.

It’s also important to note that JP Karliak has voiced Joker this time, adding a unique layer to the character’s charisma and even new details between the lines. According to the devs, Karliak’s acting aided in developing the character overall.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Will Add a Twist to Joker’s Character

The game will let you play as the Joker in the future.

The trailers for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League gave a neat look at how familiar characters look unique and stylish, thanks to Rocksteady’s take on them. Among them, Joker is also getting a welcome that’s nothing short of unique. In fact, players will be able to play as the character soon after as part of the additional content in the game.

While Joker’s character is highly unpredictable according to comic book sources, at this point, fans can pretty much guess the kind of chaos and insanity he’ll be adding to the game’s world. While don’t know how exactly Joker’s movesets and mechanics impact things in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, it’s clear that his dynamic personality is here to cause disaster, and fans might have to gear up for it.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s overall anticipation has been a bag of mixed hope. There’s a lot of disparity between how Rocksteady used to design gameplay back in the days of Arkham and how the new game’s mechanics change the way these characters work.

Some are finding it exciting to have such fast-paced gameplay make its way into a large open world, while others are disappointed about certain gameplay choices.

That being said, the roster and narrative look sharp, setting a strong precedent for how the game develops in the future. What are your thoughts on the team’s take on Joker’s new design? Let us know in the comments below.
