It’s only been two months in 2024, and gamers have already seen some very successful game releases this year that took the gaming world by storm, such as Helldivers 2 and the Pokemon-like title Palworld. There have also been some long-awaited games that turned out to be massive failures, such as Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones.

Fans who waited long for them have been disappointed and are now trying to see how the developers justify the prices when titles like HD2 and Palworld are providing a more exciting and fun experience at half the prices of Rocksteady and Ubisoft’s games.

You Can Buy Both Helldivers 2 and Palworld for the Price of One AAA Title

Helldivers 2 has been breaking records and might soon take the number-one spot for the most-played game on Steam.

An X/Twitter user shared a post with the prices of the aforementioned games and stated that players can buy two “bangers” of 2024 for the price of one AAA title as they keep breaking records like never before. This led to fans asking why they should pay such high prices for games that lack quality and content.

The Pokemon-like game is currently priced at $29.99 and Helldivers 2 at $39.99, while Kill the Justice League and Skull & Bones are priced at $69.99. Both Palworld and HD2 have been climbing the charts with a growing number of players and sales, whereas Rocksteady’s DC game and Skull & Bones have seen a lackluster launch and have been criticized by fans and critics.

Pocketpair’s title is the biggest Game Pass launch ever, and HD2 became the best PlayStation Studios launch on PC, leaving behind titles like God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man. As per SteamDB, both of these titles are currently the 6th and 4th most played games on Steam, respectively.

These games are more fun and immersive than the former, and fans are getting more out of them than the AAA titles, which were highly anticipated, and players were optimistic about them even after multiple delays and the development hell they were in.

Fans React to the Pricing and Reception of These Games

Rocksteady's return hasn't been good with the game losing players daily but many still find it okay.

Players added that lesser pricing contributes to larger sales, and $30-40 is the best price for a game these days, as $70 is “too much,” and developers should bring that quality to sell titles at that price.

A player added that the $70 price for “today’s games isn’t justified,” while another said that they are loving “small studios dropping bangers.” Some players also mentioned that Suicide Squad is not a bad game but is just average, and HD2 is only making it hard for it to survive.

Many also added that pricing might not be the only reason, as HD2 is exactly how a live service game should be and the Pokemon-like game is what the fans have clamored for years, and this is a major reason behind their success, apart from lower prices, which allow players to experiment.
