Dragon Ball, being one of the biggest franchises in the world, is not limited to just anime, manga, and merchandise. The series also has a bunch of online video games for PC, mobile, and other consoles that are based on the same universe with similar characters, offering fans a chance to use these characters in any way they want.
One such game is Dragon Ball Heroes, which came out in 2010. It is an arcade trading card game that has been entertaining fans for thirteen years. Since its release, the game has gotten a lot of updates, with Super Dragon Ball Heroes being the best update ever that came out in 2016. However, according to recent announcements, the game has been discontinued.
Dragon Ball’s official website recently revealed that a new game called Dragon Ball Super Divers has been announced, which is three times bigger than Super Dragon Ball Heroes. According to producer Akai, the new game will replace Super Dragon Ball Heroes.
Producer Akai Announces the End of Super Dragon Ball Heroes
Victory Uchida of the popular V-Jump magazine recently sat down with Producer Akai from Bandai and interviewed him about the upcoming new arcade card game by Dragon Ball. The interview was shared on the official Dragon Ball YouTube channel, and the major details about the game will be announced during the Jump Victory Carnival 2024.
However, Akai did explain that the new game is totally different from Super Dragon Ball Heroes in terms of aesthetics, cards, and rules. It has a better immersive experience of the Dragon Ball world, and while the game is still in development, other aspects like battles and the graphics of the game feel more real than Super Dragon Ball Heroes.
But the announcement of the new game came with sad news for Super Dragon Ball Heroes fans. Akai revealed that with the development of the Dragon Ball Super Divers, “Super Dragon Ball Heroes will end”. Even the cards from the previous game will not be usable for the new Dragon Ball Super Divers.
Fans are Not Happy With Producer Akai’s Announcement
As soon as the news about the end of Super Dragon Ball Heroes hit the internet, fans became furious. The game has been going strong for thirteen years, and the sudden discontinuation has surely caused a streak of disappointment among Dragon Ball fans.
Also, it has been revealed that Super Dragon Ball Heroes will not receive any new updates regarding the mission, thus forcing people to migrate to Dragon Ball Super Divers after its release.
Fans went on to X (formerly Twitter) to share their disappointment with the announcement. Even though the new game is better, Super Dragon Ball Heroes has been entertaining fans for thirteen years, and the sudden end of the game is frustrating for fans.
well that doesn't seem like a good idea to me lol, like, it's cool that there will be a way to use dbh, but why are they going to discontinue it?

That's so ass why having no backwards with the cards

Would Divers continue the Heroes story? It would be a shame if all the characters and development that heroes have given us were lost… Although it is very strange and some people may not like it. There were really things that I loved.

Jeez, I'm gonna miss Heroes. How is the story gonna end? Beat, Note, and the rest of the characters, are they just gonna retire?
I'm also not a huge fan of the triple screen thing, the edges break the immersion for me compared to the single screen Heroes has.— Mellodi 💗🍀 (@RealMelodyHope) May 9, 2024
Such a weird thing to do to a game that can literally change everything on the fly and no one would bat an eye bc that’s the nature it’s built for itself

That's just stupid imo. The cards are now just a waste of production then, it's now more of collecting instead of "usage"

Although Super Dragon Ball Heroes is coming to an end after so long, producer Akai has stated that they are currently trying to create a new Super Dragon Ball Heroes mode in the new game which could in some way keep the legacy of the previous Dragon Ball game alive.
