Assassin’s Creed Hexe could be launched on the Infinity platform in 2026, and some spicy details have been released that spell out a game-changer for the franchise.
Sources say there’s one feature from Assassin’s Creed Syndicate that’s making the cut to Hexe, and considering the period it takes place in, it’ll be interesting to see how it’s adapted. Additionally, information regarding various facets of the game was also revealed.
One of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate’s Features Is Making a Return
Recently, Insider Gaming released an exclusive report talking about various details of Assasin’s Creed Hexe.
Taking inspiration from the ‘Jack the Ripper‘ DLC of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, Hexe could introduce a Fear System. As a refresher, the mechanic lets players scare off enemies by using special tools, and they run away.
The exact details of the Fear System in the new game are unknown. However, with the backdrop of the Witch Trials, which have become a model of what happens when mass paranoia, hysteria, and a blinding sense of justice take charge, a Fear System will fit the setting perfectly.
Hexe is a departure from its predecessors, as hinted by series Vice President and Executive Producer Marc-Alexis Côté. Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, the game promises a fresh experience that takes place during the 16th-century Holy Roman Empire.
Players will assume the role of Elsa, a female protagonist with some supernatural powers. There aren’t a lot of details about her powers, but footage obtained by Insider Gaming showcases a bit of what she can do.
In one scene, Elsa evades capture by 16th-century German soldiers by using a spell to possess a nearby cat and knock down a glass bottle, distracting the guards. So we’ll hopefully be able to manipulate more of the environment to Elsa’s advantage.
How Hexe Will Tie in With the Infinity Platform
In 2022, it was revealed that Assassin’s Creed Inifinity would be an interactive Animus-themed launcher of sorts that would host past and future games in the franchise.
Codename Red will be the first new entry to debut directly on Infinity, with Hexe being second.
Côté mentioned that the franchise would be going in a different direction soon, varying in both size and genre. He says:
What I can confirm to you is that [Hexe] is not an RPG. When I say it’s a different type of game, I want people to go beyond the expectations of Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. They’re all an iteration on our RPG design, right? But Hexe and Red are taking different tracks.
He mentions, “Not everything has to be a 150-hour RPG,” so it’ll be interesting to see how the game turns out, especially with the setting they have in mind for it.
Hopefully, Ubisoft follows through on its promise, and Assassin’s Creed Hexe will breathe new life into the franchise.
