Taika Waititi is one of the most established directors in the business right now thanks to his work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While he received praise for his work in Thor: Ragnorak, it was the exact opposite for his next Marvel outing. With his time with Marvel more or less over, it appears his upcoming movie is eyeing Man of Steel Star Amy Adams.
Taika Waititi gained infamy simply because of the fact that Thor: Love and Thunder made the God of Thunder far too silly and cartoony, a far cry from the brilliant character that was shown in Avengers: Infinity War and even Thor: Ragnorak. Therefore, it doesn’t help that Waitit admitted he had no interest in directing Thor, leading to outrage from fans.
Taika Waititi’s Upcoming Film Is Close To Bagging Man Of Steel Star Amy Adams
According to Deadline, Amy Adams is in talks to co-star with Jenna Ortega in Sony’s 3000 Pictures’ Klara and the Sun, directed by Taika Waititi. The film, based on Kazuo Ishiguro’s New York Times bestselling novel, is produced by Heyday Films’ David Heyman, Garrett Basch, and Waititi, with Ishiguro serving as an executive producer.
Klara and the Sun narrates the tale of Klara (played by Jenna Ortega), an Artificial Friend created to alleviate loneliness. Purchased by a mother (Amy Adams) and a teenage girl named Josie, who adores her new robotic companion but is afflicted by a mysterious illness, the story unfolds as Klara embarks on a quest to save Josie and her loved ones from heartbreak. Through this journey, Klara learns about the profound power of human love.
This comes at a time when Taika Waiti more or less made it clear he is done with Marvel, as his future in the franchise seems very unlikely at this point in time. It did not help that he previously admitted to only joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a paycheck and nothing more.
Chris Hemsworth Didn’t Like Thor’s Character In Thor: Love And Thunder
Chris Hemsworth gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, both fans and critics expressed dissatisfaction with how his character was portrayed in Thor: Love And Thunder.
While speaking to GQ Magazine, Hemsworth talked about his portrayal of Thor in Thor: Love And Thunder. The Marvel star confessed that the movie was far too silly for its own good and went into detail about what he did not particularly like about it.
”I think we just had too much fun. It just became too silly,” Hemsworth said about the movie. “It’s always hard being in the center of it and having any real perspective…I love the process, it’s always a ride. But you just don’t know how people are going to respond.
It’s a bunch of eight-year-olds critiquing my film. ‘We thought this one had too much humor, the action was cool but the VFX weren’t as good,’” he said. “I cringe and laugh equally at it.”
It is to be noted that Taika Watiti will not be returning to direct Thor 5, something that many fans are happy about. Regardless, only time will tell whether Watiti will end up directing the next film, as it seems unlikely now since he is more focused on Klara and the Sun.
