Ant-Man Star Michael Peña Joins the Cast of Taylor Sheridan’s Next Project
Taylor Sheridan has set up his next project at Paramount+, with a Western-drama series titled Landman. The series was first announced to be in development in 2022, and work on it has progressed well over the last couple of years.
According to a recent report from Variety, Michael Peña, who is known for his scene-stealing monologue in Ant-Man has been added to the show’s long list of cast members. Peña is also known for playing the lead role in Netflix’s Narcos: Mexico.
He joins the previously announced cast list, which is headlined by Billy Bob Thornton. Academy Award-winner Thornton was announced to be a part of the series back in February 2022, when the project was first reported to be in development at Paramount+.
Since then, the show’s cast has expanded to include the likes of Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, Jacob Lofland, Kayla Wallace, James Jordan, Mark Collie, Paulina Chávez, and two-time Golden Globe Award-winner Demi Moore. Mad Men star Jon Hamm is also expected to appear as a recurring guest star.

Taylor Sheridan co-created the upcoming drama series, Landman. The series is based on Boomtown, an eleven-part podcast about the oil boom in the Permian Basin. The podcast was hosted by Christian Wallace, who is credited as a co-creator of the television adaptation, alongside Sheridan.

The above description was shared as the official synopsis for the series (via The Hollywood Reporter). According to the same report, the series had reportedly started production in February 2024. Filming was taking place in and around the Fort Worth, Texas region, where other shows produced by Sheridan have also been filmed.
Landman joins Sheridan’s ever-growing slate of streaming shows for Paramount+, which includes spin-offs of set in his Yellowstone universe, Special Ops: Lioness, Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, and Lawmen: Bass Reeves. Landman currently does not have a known release date but will debut on Paramount+.
