Reminiscing about the time he had with his late wife, the actor reflected upon how the entertainment industry treated both of them differently.

While discussing the heartbreaking disparity of Hollywood that affected his wife Joan Washington, Richard Grant reflected upon his Oscar nomination for Can You Ever Forgive Me? Stating how initially his film debut changed his career trajectory, Grant confessed even the Oscar nod made him realize a lot about the entertainment industry.

The Loki actor slyly criticized Kidman for showing her true colors. Stating how the actress’s attitude completely changed after his Oscar nomination, Grant claimed Kidman even became his best friend.

She swans elegantly towards me, saying: ‘I hope you win every award coming your way, cos you’re heartbreaking and brilliant.’ No denying the sea change from her polite greeting at Telluride [film festival] eight weeks ago, before she’d seen the movie. Being completely honest about his opinions on celebrity culture, Richard Grant later admitted that he never faced any repercussions because of Elizabeth Taylor’s aphorism.

I didn’t mean it as a criticism exactly – more an observation. You know Elizabeth Taylor’s aphorism: ‘There’s no deodorant like success.’…Interpret it as you will.” he added.

Without holding back his opinion, Grant later slammed the entire industry for its strange culture.
