At the 35th Annual Palm Springs International Film Awards, the actor was presented with the Desert Palm Award (Best Actor) for Oppenheimer. As seen on the iHollywood TV’s YouTube video, the award was presented to the actor by none other than his co-star Robert Downey Jr.! During his acceptance speech, Murphy couldn’t help but get emotional about getting the award as he thanked his family for putting up with his absence.

“I don’t ever really get to do this too often. I wanna say ‘Thanks’ to my family. Two-thirds of them are sitting down there. We had to leave one of them at home ’cause he’s doing exams but just thanks for putting up with me.”

“Uh, putting up with the kind of half me and the shadow me and the absent me and the remains of me when I’m doing a film like this or work in general. You’re always there and I love you for it”

With his dear friend and co-star Robert Downey Jr. bestowing the award to him, the Iron Man star was also out of words for his colleague. Stating that Murphy was an anomaly, Downey Jr. had quite the words for his co-star!

Before calling upon his co-star to claim the Desert Palm Award, Robert Downey Jr. had some words for Cillian Murphy. Taking up the stage, the actor stated that Murphy was quite an exceptional actor via The Hollywood Reporter.

“I feel kind of like I blew it because I didn’t write anything and I’m not going to make an excuse…[Cillian Murphy] He is an anomaly. He’s been an actor’s actor for over 20 years, and nobody dislikes this guy. That’s not easy. His character work and his onscreen intensity never fail. Captain captivating, it’s fu*king titillating.”

With praises from Downey Jr. and getting love from the world, Cillian Murphy will surely go on to earn big in 2024 as the people rally around the actor receiving awards all year round.
