Bethesda’s most awaited open-world RPG Starfield is now available for all gamers, well for everyone who has a gaming PC or an Xbox as the game is an Xbox exclusive. After years of long wait, the game is finally out and players have gone all in with mods and exploring everything it has from its planets to ships and quests. It’s a great time to be an Xbox owner but sadly PlayStation users are sore over the game skipping PlayStation.

Although Bethesda has apologized to PlayStation users about this due to Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda, Starfield Game Director Todd Howard has now commented on the game’s exclusivity and said that the game’s absence from one of the most popular consoles ever made Starfield a ‘better product.’

“When you’re making something exclusive then the more you can focus. You know this is the hardware or the thing people are playing on, so the ability to focus on that always yields a better product. You do want people to be able to access it of course. But being with Xbox means there is an ease of access for us and I’m told we’re expecting more people playing this launch than anything we’ve ever done before and that’s despite the success of our previous games.”

Howard mentioned how Nintendo is associated with its first-party games and Starfield could also leave its mark on gamers for being on Xbox. He added that with Starfield being exclusive they were able to dedicate all the time and resources to make the game the best gaming experience ever on Xbox Series X|S. He also said that the development team knew the hardware and what people were going to play the game on and that kind of focus made the game a better product.

Starfield Has Fared Well on Xbox So Far

Starfield is now available on Xbox Series X|S and PC is available on Game Pass and is a main first-party game that’s seeing success after some big failures. Starfield‘s exclusive release on Xbox is being seen as a win as the game is the most stable and bug-free launch in the developer studio’s history. Bethesda’s marketing boss Pete Hines had previously said that developing exclusive games or for fewer platforms makes the development process easy and developers can hold extra rounds of testing to ensure that the game is at par top what is expected.

Still, there is a vast majority of players who won’t be able to play the game due to its exclusive status, and although Howard said he wants more players to play the game, being with Xbox brings the game to Game Pass, resulting in the game being available to more gamers than ever. Starfield‘s exclusive release has resulted in Xbox console sales that increased sales for the Xbox Series X by a massive 1000% on Amazon.
