Of all the unexpected things that happened in 2020, from the onset of the pandemic to the death of Black Panther’s Chadwick Boseman, rapper Kanye West running for US president was definitely the most shocking of all.
Obviously, he did not win as President Joe Biden emerged as the 46th US President. But, had West won the hearts of people, he had a lot of plans for them.
Kanye West As President Would Have Transformed America Like Wakanda
During his conversation with Forbes magazine, which the outlet reported as four hours of rambling, Kanye West shared he wants to run America like how they did it in Black Panther’s Wakanda.
“A lot of Africans do not like the movie [Black Panther] and representation of themselves in Wakanda. But I’m gonna use the framework of Wakanda right now because it’s the best explanation of what our design group is going to feel like in the White House.”
He called his idea a very positive one, though not the most as he still regarded the super-powered alien life forms as the superior ones, but he noted how his influence can achieve freedom.
“That is a positive idea: you got Kanye West, one of the most powerful humans—I’m not saying the most because you got a lot of alien-level superpowers, and it’s only collectively that we can set it free.”
After a few detours, he went back to explaining his plans for the country which was inspired by Wakandan technology. In the film, fans have seen the state-of-the-art machinery used for innovative inventions.
“Let’s get back to Wakanda. Like in the movie in Wakanda when the king went to visit that lead scientist to have the shoes wrap around her shoes. Just the amount of innovation that can happen, the amount of innovation in medicine—like big pharma—we are going to work, innovate, together.”
West’s goals for the country were indeed very promising and ambitious at the same time. No one knows how he would achieve all of this, but given that he was supported by tech mogul, Elon Musk, it’s probably possible he could turn America into Wakanda.
Is Kanye West Running For President In 2024?
After West failed to bag the position in 2020, the rapper will no longer run for the 2024 presidency, as per his personal attorney, Bruce Marks. He told Rolling Stone:
“He’s not a candidate for office in 2024.”
The famed rapper only appeared on the ballot in 12 states as a third-party candidate, given that the public did not really consider him as a serious candidate. He is also known for his anti-Semitic remarks which have greatly tainted his reputation.
This conduct has lost him the support of several brands such as Adidas, Balenciaga, and Foot Locker, so what more with the general public? A source close to West revealed that the door is still ajar, however, “there’s no plan to do [run for president], there’s no campaign structure or anything along those lines in place.”
