Bridgerton is unarguably raging as one of the most popular romance shows as of now, enchanting viewers with the incredible love story full of twists and turns and sudden realizations of Penelope and Colin.
And while these two continue to steal hearts, one other character has been acing her game at leaving an indelible mark as well: Eloise Bridgerton.

With her extraordinarily unique personality, Claudia Jessie’s Eloise didn’t take long to take over fans’ hearts and minds with ease.
But while that’s that, there have also been quite a few popular theories about the romance arc she could take, which includes her becoming queer, just like her siblings.
However, that hardly seems to be the case, considering showrunner Jess Brownell’s words for her.
Bridgerton Showrunner Weighs in on Making Eloise Queer as well
In the story that encompasses the eight close-knit siblings of the powerful Bridgerton family, Claudia Jessie’s Eloise Bridgerton became a widely loved fan-favorite character within little to no time. That said, fans have been speculating about the romance arc she could take rather adamantly as well.

One of these arcs included her coming out as queer as well, considering how both of her siblings, Francesca and Benedict, met with a major turn in their respective storylines and came out as queer.
However, that arc doesn’t seem to be taking place anytime soon, especially after what the mastermind showrunner Jess Brownell had to say about Eloise and how her story would progress further during a recent interview with TVLine.
Addressing this arc, Brownell acknowledged why viewers must think this way, saying:
We’ve talked about Eloise in the room a lot about the fact that to a lot of people, she does read as queer, and I totally understand why.

At the same time, Brownell made her own point of view known on the story going forward of Eloise, explaining why this probably won’t be the turn she would end up taking. The showrunner said:
But we felt it’s really important to hold space in this show where everyone is obsessed with romance for there to be a character — specifically a female character — for whom that is not the priority.
Needless to say, as viewers must already know, that is exactly how the story has been progressing so far for Jessie’s character, which was also why fans became so reluctant in trying to figure out just how her love story would turn out to be.
But that’s not all, because the creators seem to have something else in mind for her.
Jess Brownell Has Something Else in Mind for Eloise

During the same interview, Brownell continued to emphasize how she feels finding romance isn’t really the one thing that is the most necessary for Eloise Bridgerton’s character right now. Instead, what she would be seen focusing on would be her “cerebral pursuits.”
Explaining this very feature of Jessie’s fan-favorite character’s storyline, the showrunner went on to say:
[Our goal for now] is not that Eloise just needs to meet someone of the right gender but that, in fact, she is genuinely more interested in cerebral pursuits at this moment.
Adding to this, she also pointed out just why this take is so necessary, especially in the story that majorly focuses on all of its characters finding their own respective romantic partners and love.

Brownell said:
[For now, Eloise] is on a path of finding her place in a society that doesn’t make a lot of room for women who care more about ideas than they do love.
Of course, this take is essential as well, and it is a good thing that at least one of the characters is looking at the world through this point of view instead of simply joining the race to find ‘the one’ for her.
That being said, if this is indeed the way the genius creators wish to make Eloise’s story move on going forward, then we are most certainly willing to put all her romance arcs in the backseat and hop onboard for whatever adventures the fan-favorite character could be seen embarking on.
