Although Tom Cruise has multiple film series under his name, fans are now eager to see the actor’s 2014 film to be developed into a franchise as well. Popularly known for his Mission Impossible movies, Cruise starred alongside Emily Blunt in the sci-fi action film Edge of Tomorrow. Directed by Doug Liman, the movie follows Major William Cage, who relives the same day, gaining combat skills to save humanity from an alien invasion with the help of a seasoned warrior.
The film did pretty well, receiving positive reviews and making $370 million at the box office. There have been numerous discussions about a sequel to Edge of Tomorrow, and the recent reports of Cruise’s new deal with Warner Bros have sparked hope among fans for significant developments in the project.

Warner Bros recently announced a new deal with the action star Tom Cruise. Under the deal, Cruise is set to collaborate on “original and franchise theatrical films” with the studio. Fans took to Twitter to share their excitement after the news broke out. Considering he is expected to work in original and franchise movies, fans are eagerly anticipating his return as Major William Cage in a sequel to the 2014 film.
Not just Cruise, they are also eager to see Emily Blunt reprising her role as Rita Vrataski. While some fans are looking forward to a sequel, many others have gone a step further, suggesting that Edge of Tomorrow “deserves to be turned into a franchise!”
I need Edge Of Tomorrow 2 as that movie deserves to be turned into a franchise! I think he’s gonna be moving to Warner Bros once he’s done filming Mission Impossible 8 for Paramount & his SpaceX movie with Universal! I wonder if he will be involved in the new DC universe as well! pic.twitter.com/pOjjOkDtxa

ALSO, I see absolutely no reason why we can’t get a Edge of Tomorrow 2 now. Definitely want Emily Blunt to come back, but if she can’t for the foreseeable future, I really hope they don’t let this next big potential sci-fi franchise not see the light of day again. pic.twitter.com/3IrEjK6iNp

Years-Long Discussions Surrounding the Edge of Tomorrow Sequel
The much-anticipated sequel to Edge of Tomorrow has been through a prolonged journey of discussions and setbacks. Following the film’s release, Christopher McQuarrie shared that the plans for a sequel are “locked and loaded.” The updates related to the sequel have continued to come since then.
Doug Liman later said in an interview, “That is the only sequel that I’m considering doing,” stating that the sequel would be even better than the original movie. He even went on to state that it will be titled “Live Die Repeat and Repeat.”
