MrBeast, the most-subscribed YouTuber globally seems to always be trending on social media platforms either for helping people or p*ssing them off. However, the YouTuber whose net worth was determined to be about $103 million to $105 million in 2023 enjoys a large fanbase that defends him nonstop.

But that doesn’t stop critics from trolling him harder. Recently, the online philanthropist faced such a situation again when it was reported that he had purchased homes in the same neighborhood for his staff. People immediately looked at him suspiciously and accused him of trying to start a cult.

NY Post reported that MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, is buying out a neighborhood just outside Greenville, North Carolina for his staff, family, and friends. Donaldson has been living close to his childhood friends like Chris Tyson and Chandler Hallow for several years now. They have appeared in multiple videos of his. As per records, his first house is two stories and has 4 bathrooms and bedrooms. It cost him $320,000 in 2018. The house stretches over 3,000 square feet and has a breakfast bar as well as a basketball court.

The YouTuber with upwards of 150 million subscribers on his main channel is reportedly buying houses in the same neighborhood so that it reduces the commute time of his staff. So he aims to improve the productivity of his employees who will be living on his budget. However, people online are side-eyeing him for this decision.

People online aren’t looking at MrBeast’s decision to purchase houses for his employees in the same neighborhood positively. Many think that he’s trying to start a cult since his passionate fanbase will probably try to buy homes nearby as well. Others think it will be easier for him to control his staff if they all live in the same neighborhood that was bought by him. Basically, people aren’t convinced that it’s truly a generous deed that’s coming from his heart.

Here’s what people are saying:

However, most people aren’t opposed to such an idea. Many cheered MrBeast for giving his employees free housing and looking after their needs. His fans saw no problem with the idea if he maintained the houses. In fact, they commended him for essentially having a large open-air studio where they can film multiple things.

However, as per NY Post, he hasn’t completely bought all the houses in the neighborhood yet. There are still holdouts who probably won’t leave before their kids finish school. So it looks like Jimmy Donaldson will have to wait a little before his real-life YouTube community gets made.
