Even the most powerful superheroes can not hold back when they have their classic freak-out moments. One such example is Gal Gadot, who was cast as Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder’s 2016 film Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. She had no idea that running into Beyoncé, the queen herself, would help her overcome her nerves in time for the crucial audition.

Gadot’s career was already taking off in her native Israel before she made it big in Hollywood. She competed in the Miss Universe 2004 pageant and won the title of Miss Israel that year. As Gisele Yashar in Fast & Furious (2009), she made her feature film debut internationally and went on to reprise the role in multiple sequels.

However, it was her portrayal of Wonder Woman in Wonder Woman and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice that catapulted her to international fame. The actress once said that during her Wonder Woman audition, Beyoncé’s music helped her get in the right frame of mind.

Gal Gadot Prepared for Her Wonder Woman Audition by Listening to Beyoncé’s Song

Speaking with W Magazine about her portrayal of the legendary DC Comics superhero first made popular by Lynda Carter on the television show in the 1970s, Gal Gadot revealed that landing the role of Wonder Woman was not easy. She stated that she had no idea she was a candidate for the role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The actress said:

“When I auditioned for Batman v Superman, I didn’t know it was for Wonder Woman. The director, Zack Snyder, asked me to do a camera test. That was torture. They were looking at six or seven girls, and we were all in separate trailers and were told to stay inside until they called us.”

Thus, to de-stress before getting prepared for Zack Snyder’s $873.6 million film, Gadot, a 38-year-old former Miss Israel, turned to Beyoncé’s music:

“Waiting is my enemy Number One, and I was losing my mind. So, I decided to put on Beyoncé.”

Naturally, Gadot chose Queen Bey’s well-known song about female empowerment. She went on to share with the magazine.

“Who runs the world? Girls! I just started to dance, and I let my anxiety go. Thank you, Beyoncé!”

Since Beyoncé is a symbol of strength and confidence, it is safe to say that her music and persona have inspired millions of people, including Gadot.

A Disappointing Update Regarding Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman Future

Is Gal Gadot going to play Wonder Woman again in the upcoming DCU project? A recent report offered a disheartening update on her future. In a Variety article about the making of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the last DCEU film of the year, it is stated that Gadot is not anticipated to play Wonder Woman again in the new DCU.

According to the report, none of Zack Snyder’s cast members from Justice League and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice will be back for the reboot.

The announcement came despite the actress’ earlier declaration that she would work with DC Studios to develop Wonder Woman 3. She informed ComicBook:

“I love portraying Wonder Woman. It’s so close to and dear to my heart. From what I heard from James and from Peter is that we’re gonna develop a ‘Wonder Woman 3’ together.”

Wonder Woman 3‘s chances of happening were seemingly shot down in a Variety report that came out soon after Gadot made her announcement. According to trade sources, the studio has no current plans for a third film and is not currently developing one.

In June, Gadot even revealed to Entertainment Tonight that “things are being worked behind the scenes” for her DC character.

Well, aside from her superhero role, she was also seen in the Netflix action-comedy film Red Notice and the mystery film Death on the Nile. The next role she will play is the Evil Queen in Marc Webb’s musical fantasy Snow White, based on a screenplay by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson.
