Madonna remains one of the most iconic stars in the entire music industry. Despite being 65 years of age, she can still heat things up whenever she feels like it. That being said, she has a lot of regrets in her life and that includes turning down a major movie that could have defined her entire career.
Madonna also made headlines previously as she hilariously flashed the audience during her appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon back in 2021. Naturally, this was nothing new for the iconic musician who was never afraid of showing herself off.
Madonna Has Plenty Of Experience On The Silver Screen
As already established, Madonna is one of the genre-defying artists to have ever graced the stage, whose influence in the business is truly without any equal. After all, the blonde goddess managed to break several barriers over the past three decades.
While Madonna has been absent from the silver screen since her voice role in the 2006 animated film Arthur and the Invisibles and her live-action appearance in Die Another Day back in 2002, her cinematic legacy thrived during the 1980s and 1990s. This is especially due to films such as Body of Evidence, A League of Their Own, Evita, Swept Away and more.
Madonna Regrets Turning Down The Opportunity Of A Life Time
Maddona is as successful as they come in the industry, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have regrets. While speaking on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon via Faroutmagazine, Madonna engaged in a rapid-fire quiz, addressing various rumors. In a surprising revelation, Madonna revealed that she turned down a role in The Matrix, adding that she still regrets her decision to this day.
“I also turned down the role in The Matrix. Can you believe that? That’s like one of the best movies ever made. A teeny-tiny part of me regrets just that one moment in my life.”
While Madonna didn’t elaborate on the specific role, many have speculated that she was supposed to play Trinity, a character eventually portrayed by Carrie-Anne Moss in the iconic film. That’s not the only film Madonna turned down either, rejecting a role in Batman Returns, where she was supposed to be Catwoman.
