Jodie Foster has been in the film industry since the age of 3. To say that she has grown with it and within it won’t be wrong, for the celebrated actress knows the industry life the best. While she has delivered one exceptional performance after the other, the actress has aged a lot over the years, slowly taking the supporting role instead of the lead.

Madonna for the last couple of years has been facing severe backlash over her appearance. While plastic surgeons allege the singer underwent numerous procedures (via Page Six), Madonna appeared to be deeply affected by the severe criticism she faced and was said to be determined to get her old face back (via Daily Mail).

Meanwhile, Madonna also later acknowledged plastic surgery (via X), and blamed misogyny and ageism for her changed appearance (via Instagram). These revelations, however, did not seem to affect the trolls at all, who continued to call her out for apparently destroying herself. Despite all this trolling, Madonna seems to be growing strong.

As for her contemporary Jodie Foster, the actress is the complete opposite of the Material Girl hitmaker. 61-year-old Foster seems to be not at all affected by her aging, choosing to gracefully accept life. While speaking to Interview Magazine, the Oscar-winning actress remarked about aging and being in her 50s,

“And there’s that awkward phase where everybody who’s in their late forties or fifties is very busy getting all plumped and shooting shit into their face. I didn’t want that life, but I also knew that I couldn’t compete with my old self. So my fifties were tough.”

Even though navigating her 50s was tough for Foster, the actress maintained she gradually accepted the process instead of altering it as Madonna did.

Being in the showbiz for women is tough for their career seemingly takes a backseat once ‘age’ kicks in. While some go above and beyond by choosing to go under the knife rather than accept the natural process, Jodie Foster has been enjoying not being the lead anymore.

Although things were tough in her 50s, the actress reveals her 60s have been better as she has been enjoying supporting others, shining her light over others (via Interview Magazine).

“There was something about going back to the work with a different attitude, I think. About really enjoying supporting other people and saying to myself, ‘This is not my time. I had my time. This is their time, and I get to participate in it by giving them whatever wisdom I have.'”

And so she continues, giving stellar performances in any role she takes, not letting age bind her from shining bright just as she always has.
