What was the worst fear for Elizabeth Olsen?

The Sherman Oaks-born actress made her film debut with the 2011 movie Martha Marcy May Marlene. Even though she has been spotted in a wide range of projects, Scarlet Witch had a massive contribution to her career and pushed her to astronomical levels of stardom.

However, it wasn’t as good for Elizabeth Olsen as it sounds to us. In an interview with MTV News, the actress openly denied associating herself with any major franchise.

“I would love to have a long career. For some reason, franchises frighten me, because I think it’s hard when something becomes so big to see you as other characters, and all the baggage that comes with that. That’s something that frightens me. But none of the tabloid stuff sounds good to me, that all sounds unhealthy. A lot of things are completely out of your control.”

By her popularity as Scarlet Witch, it can be agreed that the character has presently become an integral part of Olsen’s career. Her worst nightmare proved to be true as Elizabeth Olsen said to The Times about her wish to be associated with other characters as well.

“I’m trying to figure out… Because, specifically in the last four years, my output has been Marvel. I don’t want… it’s not that I don’t want to be associated as just this character. But I really feel like I need to be building other parts back up for balance.”

The Doctor Strange 2 actress believes that there wouldn’t be any longevity in her career if she is only associated with a single character. Although her future in the MCU is presently uncertain due to Wanda’s fate at the end of Doctor Strange 2, the actress thinks she will be brought back soon. But she also hopes her character to be more fun and different this time than the previous iterations.

It is saddening that not only did her worst fear come true but Elizabeth Olsen also lost an important project due to her Marvel commitments. The 34-year-old actress lost Yorgos Lanthimos’ critically acclaimed Oscar-nominated The Lobster. It was a crucial loss for Olsen and she openly stated to The New York Times about how it was frustrating for her to lose certain projects due to the MCU.

“I started to feel frustrated. I had this job security but I was losing these pieces that I felt were more part of my being. And the further I got away from that, the less I became considered for it.”

It was painful for Elizabeth Olsen to not be able to do projects she wanted to. However, this didn’t let her hate the studio as she also expressed her desire to be a part of a standalone movie. All she needs is a good story for a standalone Scarlet Witch movie.
