The internet recently went wild as rumors of Pascal having a role in Celine Song’s next film, romantic comedy Materialists, went viral. The idea of Pascal finally appearing in a rom-com almost sent some of his fans over the edge, as their mouths watered in anticipation of the prospect.
However, unlike five other movies, Pascal’s role in that one isn’t confirmed. These are the quintet of films we know Pedro Pascal is set to star in, which will make the world fall in love with him even more than it already is.
Drive-Away Dolls (2024)
Drive-Away Dolls is a comedy road movie directed by The Big Lebowski’s Ethan Coen. The film focuses on a young, free-spirited woman who, following a breakup with her girlfriend, embarks on a road trip to Tallahassee with her friend that quickly goes wrong when the pair encounters a group of inept criminals.
It stars Margaret Qualley as Jamie, the free spirit, and Geraldine Viswanathan as her friend Marian. Pedro Pascal plays Santos, an incompetent criminal dealer – that’s funny just thinking about it – and the impressive supporting cast includes Beanie Feldstein, Colman Domingo, Matt Damon, and Miley Cyrus. It’s due for a release on February 23rd this year.
The Uninvited (2024)
The Uninvited is a comedy-drama by directorial debutant Nadia Conners. It follows an elderly stranger named Helen who crashes a party, exposes secrets, reignites old flames, and triggers a hilarious and chaotic sequence of unfortunate events and a reevaluation of life for her fellow guests.
Little else is known about the movie, but it stars Conners’ husband, Walton Goggins, Rufus Sewell, and Elizabeth Reaser, alongside Pedro Pascal in an unknown role – though he is wearing a rather fetching shirt in a promotional photograph for the film that almost makes it worth watching for that alone. It’s due to be released in March of this year.
Gladiator 2 (2024)
The long-awaited sequel to 2000’s epic historical drama movie Gladiator, Gladiator 2, takes place over two decades after the death of Russell Crowe’s Maximus Decimus Meridius and will follow Lucius Verus, the son of Maximus’ love Lucilla, as he continues Maximus’ legacy.
Spencer Treat Clark played Lucius in the original, but Paul Mescal is taking over the lead role for this one. The supporting cast includes a returning Connie Nielsen and Derek Jacobi, Denzel Washington, Joseph Quinn, Peter Mensah, and Matt Lucas. Pedro Pascal has been cast in an unspecified role, and it’ll be exciting to see who he’s playing. Rather excitingly, the iconic Ridley Scott returns as director. Gladiator 2 hits theaters on November 22 this year.
Tropico
The film noir thriller Tropico chronicles the attempts of a veteran operative to spy on an American businessman in a coastal town in northern Brazil. The situation gets messy when the spy simultaneously falls for the businessman’s attractive wife and identical twin sister.
Padre director Giada Colagrande will oversee the movie, which stars her husband, Willem Dafoe, as spy Raymon Sanz. Pedro Pascal plays Mark, the businessman Raymond spies on, and Morena Baccarin plays his wife Lucia and her twin sister Olivia. The dynamic between those three beloved stars has the potential to be fantastic. Principal photography began in April 2023, but no release date has been announced yet.
Fantastic Four (2025)
It’s recently been confirmed that Pedro Pascal is to begin filming for Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four. Not much is known about the movie, except it will introduce the eponymous superhero team to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel’s First Family has appeared in live-action before, but they’ve never been done justice. Hopefully, the MCU portrayal of the team will rectify that.
Pedro Pascal will star alongside Vanessa Kirby and Ebon Moss-Bachrach in the film. While their specific roles are unconfirmed, it’s rumored they’ll play Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic), Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), and Ben Grimm (The Thing), respectively. Matt Shakman – the prominent television director who directed episodes of Game of Thrones, The Boys, and WandaVision – is on board to direct, so it should be great. Pedro Pascal will make a terrific Reed Richards.
