The Academy seems to be in turmoil while short-listing nominees for the 2024 Oscar Award. No doubt some of the big names are being snubbed as a result. On December 22, 2023, Zac Efron’s The Iron Claw came to the theaters and won the hearts of all movie lovers. Directed by Sean Durkin, The Iron Claw is a tragic tale of the famous wrestling brothers (the Von Erich brothers) of the early 1980s.

The movie’s content clearly is impactful and worthy of praise. Fans have showered the movie with love wholeheartedly. However, the opinion of The Academy seems to differ from that of the fans. The Academy has different plans for the 2024 Oscar Awards to be held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

Industry Insider Expresses His Enragement Over The Iron Claw‘s Oscars Snub

On January 23, 2024, when Zazie Beetz and Jack Quaid announced the list of Oscar nominees, it was a surprise that The Iron Claw was not on the list. The main protagonists, Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White did an exceptional job in the movie and still didn’t get a place in the Oscar nominees’ list. Fans are blaming The Academy for neglecting such fine art.

Here is what industry insider Jeff Sneider posted on X in support of the film:

“Watched THE IRON CLAW again. The Academy — and A24, frankly — did that movie dirty. Shoulda gotten the FOXCATCHER treatment.”

People also think that the movie’s failure to get into the list of nominees is also a failure of the associated entertainment company. If only A24 had a better movie promotion, the film could have gotten a chance to be noticed by the voters.

The Academy Didn’t Acknowledge Some of the Best in the Industry

The Academy snubbed Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig
The Academy snubbed Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig for Barbie

Not just Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White from The Iron Claw, but there are a few other actors and actresses who got snubbed in the 2024 Oscar Awards. It would not be wrong to start the mentions with Leonardo DiCaprio. DiCaprio did phenomenal work in Killers of the Flower Moon. His co-star got selected for the Best Actress nomination, but DiCaprio couldn’t make it into the list of Best Actor.

Another big shock came to the fans when they found out that the two women behind one of their favorite movies had been snubbed. Starring Margot Robbie, Barbie really impressed all the audiences out there. However, Robbie has been excluded from the list of Best Actress. The Academy even excluded Greta Gerwig from the list of Best Directors.

Fans of cinema are despising the choices of The Academy after the nomination list of the 2024 Oscar Awards. Fans truly believe that The Academy should pay more attention to the deserving movies. It is a matter of despair that the talented artists and worthy movies are being sidelined by the Academy members.
