Scott Buck-created Netflix superhero series Iron Fist ran for two seasons but the show has failed miserably as fans have criticized the poor script, and direction while some blame the show’s failure on the actors.
Finn Jones played the Marvel superhero Iron Fist in the Netflix series and there was a wave of concerns regarding his ability to pull off the titular character. Netflix stunt coordinator also revealed the actor being too lazy to prepare for his action scenes.

Netflix Stunt Coordinator Claimed Finn Jones of Being Too Lazy
Finn Jones previously said that he went through intense training and martial arts instructions for three weeks but during production, he had no time to prepare for the sequences as he said that he learned the fight scenes fifteen minutes before filming. However, Netflix stunt coordinator for Iron Fist, Brett Chan had a different prospect on the matter, he said:
“You know, [we] spent twenty-one-to twenty-two-hour days trying to make it work and having directors say, ‘Ah, no,’ or having Marvel say, ‘Ah, no. Everyone is fighting and the actor doesn’t want to train.’ That’s probably why the best sequences were with Jessica Henwick, because she trained four hours a day-and she had zero martial arts experience,” Chan said (via, MCU: The Reign Of Marvel Studios).
It certainly reflected in the output, Iron Fist was not something the Marvel fans expected. Marvel Netflix show Daredevil is getting rebooted inside MCU but Marvel has not opened up on the return of Iron Fist, not yet anyway.
Finn Jones Explained Why Iron Fist Failed
The end of Iron Fist on Netflix was not the exclusive result of the critical doom of the show’s season 1. The show somewhat bounced back attempting to rectify the flaws in the second season. However, before getting the nod for the third season Netflix and Disney’s partnership expired and it never happened.
Commenting on the ultimate failure of the show, lead actor Jones revealed to Geekscape podcast the reason behind the doom. “I think, really, the first season, there was a lot of creative challenges, and it didn’t live up to the expectations, and I think that came down to … really, it came down to scheduling conflicts,” Jones said.
“That season of television was rushed because we had The Defenders that we had to film straight afterwards. We had to film The Defenders, we had all those other actors locked into that schedule, so we had to film those 13 episodes of television in that set time, and unfortunately, we just didn’t have the time to do what was expected and what was desired, which was a kick-ass, amazing kung-fu show and martial-arts show. And the reason that show failed was because of the time constraints, because of bad scheduling.”
In season 2, however, Jones said, “We really understood what the flaws were, and we worked hard to course-correct the show. And in my opinion, we did.” The actor believes that they have done a fantastic job in the second season, however, just a month after that “show had been premiered, all of the shows got deleted because Disney wanted to create their own series.”
As for now, Iron Fist has no official update to return to the screen but it is not impossible as Marvel Studios has a way of surprising fans with cameos in their projects.
