According to a close friend he was last spotted with, the actor was doing very well. It was also revealed that the late actor was even planning to bring a biopic. If Athenna Crosby is to be believed, then Perry wanted Zac Efron to play him on-screen.
Zac Efron and Matthew Perry had already met earlier while working in 17 Again. The Friends actor was not wrong to choose the 36-year-old in his biopic as Zac Efron already did that once in the 2009 movie. Efron acted alongside Perry and played the younger version of the latter’s character.

The Serving Sara actor’s friend Athenna Crosby confirmed that he was in a very good mood when she met him the day before. The actor also thought of his biopic and picked his favorite to star in his role.
When Entertainment Tonight had a chat with Athenna Crosby, she was heartbroken at her dearest friend’s unfortunate demise. She revealed how he was eager to tell his inspiring story to everyone out there and thought Zac Efron to be the perfect choice for the role.
“He said that he wanted to make a movie about his life. And he had worked with Zac Efron in the past on a movie, and he said that he wanted Zac Efron to play him as a younger version and that he was gonna ask him soon to do that.”
Matthew Perry had a very inspirational life as he fought severe alcohol and drug addictions and came victorious. Since then, he has always been a supporter of rehabilitation and has always inspired his fans. He wanted the world to know and learn from his story.
“He was just looking forward to sharing more about his story and his recovery from addiction, and really championing that cause to help more people, so he was so optimistic and happy about everything that he wanted to do.”
Now it will be interesting to watch if any day we get to watch a biopic on Matthew Perry. Given, how Zac Efron played the role of Perry’s younger version in 17 Again, he might be successful in bagging the role.

Athenna Crosby added that Matthew Perry was extremely optimistic about his life and was hoping to do better in his career. It can be understood from Crosby’s statements that the actor was planning to make a great comeback and had an optimistic outlook on life.
“He was doing great. He is a very funny person, as most people know him to be. He’s goofy, he’s silly. He was cracking jokes the whole time. He was speaking to me about some of the upcoming projects that he wanted to work on. He was very optimistic about the future.”
She continued that the Fools Rush In actor saw a sudden spike in his public popularity and was hoping “to have a second act in his career”. Unfortunately, Athenna Crosby had to witness a painful truth the following day when she lost her dearest friend. She confessed how the unfortunate death affected her and also expressed her grief on social media platforms.
