The Time When Ant-Man Helped Hulk and Hawkeye

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, the world was a pretty messed up place. Hulk and Hawkeye were concerned about the extremity of the public panicking about the situation. People are reappearing after Iron Man reversed Thanos’ snap and that created a huge shockwave among people. Ant-Man played by Paul Rudd, took over the role of educating the public of what happened. In Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, the audience had a glimpse of Lang’s autobiography Look Out For The Little Guy! As per Lang’s book, Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) and Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) approached Ant-Man to explain the extent of the events in the Endgame and beyond.

“In a word, I’m an ordinary guy who’s been thrust—more than once—into extraordinary circumstances. And I know that still doesn’t completely answer the question of why I wrote this book. The simple answer is, ‘The Avengers asked me to.’ One day, ‘Bruce the Hulk’ Banner and Clint ‘Hawkeye’ Barton took me out for lunch. They said they were concerned that the world didn’t really know what had happened with Thanos and the Blip and our long struggle to finally put things right again.”

It was a huge responsibility and Lang was not sure if he was up for the job but he took it anyway. It’s hard to say no to the Avengers, he stated.

But Why Scott Lang?

Even Lang has asked that question, out of all superheroes, Lang was chosen and that was a legit question. To have an answer to that, Barton explained, one needs to look at the very foundation of Lang’s personality. He is grounded, he is funny, and appealing to the mass. “’You, Scott. You’re the guy who got scooped up in all this pretty recently,” Barton told Lang. “You’ve still got one foot in their world. And you’re a guy everyone likes . . . and trusts,’” he added. Explaining about taking the job, Lang said:

“At first, as I usually do when confronted with heavy topics, I made a joke: ‘I’m pretty sure at least half the world knows what happened.’ Bruce responded that yes, of course, billions had experienced these jarring and mind-bending events, but they didn’t know the full story behind them. And ultimately, that’s what people need the most to get through and get past traumatic events: a narrative that helps it all make sense.”

The Hulk further went on to convince him by saying that it was tough stuff, and “no one knows how to keep it light like you.” Still, it was not enough as Ant-Man was not around for the Battle of Wakanda or any of the “events that led to Thanos gathering the various Infinity Stones.” But later he had access to the archival footage and documentation and could go wherever he wanted for the book.

Lang’s book Look Out For The Little Guy! appeared in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is actually rolling out for the public and is now available for pre-order. Published by Hyperion Avenue, the book will go on sale on September 5, 2023.
