Renowned UFC fighter and MCU actor Georges St-Pierre, became the highlight of the day, as he appeared on the cast list for Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool & Wolverine. Previously making his Marvel debut in 2014 as Georges Batroc in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, St-Pierre rose to stardom among the comic fans.
Georges St-Pierre’s MCU character appeared as a skilled mercenary and martial artist. Given his UFC background, St-Pierre channeled his impressive physical prowess, including his mixed martial arts skills and acrobatic abilities through Batroc. And now, he appears to be reprising his role in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine.
Georges St-Pierre’s MCU Journey as Georges Batroc
Canadian UFC legend and two-division fighter, Georges St-Pierre retired from his MMA career in 2019. But ahead of his retirement, St-Pierre had skillfully developed a secondary profession in the entertainment industry. Flexing his acting muscles in Hollywood, the mixed martial artist landed a role in the MCU.
Being a lifelong superhero fan and an avid comic book devourer, Georges St-Pierre made his MCU debut as the French mercenary, Georges Batroc aka Batroc the Leaper in 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Proving his combat skills and agility through his role, especially during his face-off with Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, St-Pierre once again reprised his role.
Reappearing as Georges Batroc to fight against Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson, Georges St-Pierre stole eyes in the debut episode of the Disney+ show, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Given his UFC background, the actor proved to be the best fighter among all MCU actors. So much so that it seems Marvel Studios isn’t ready to let him go.
Offering him the opportunity to voice an alternate Georges Batroc in What If…? Marvel now appears to have hired him for Ryan Reynolds’ upcoming movie, alongside Hugh Jackman.
Georges St-Pierre in Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool & Wolverine
As Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman‘s Deadpool & Wolverine gradually approaches its release date on 26th July 2024, new revelations appear surrounding the project. Almost like Marvel Studios is strategically maintaining the hype around the movie, with a daily dose of surprises.
That’s when we came across an extensive list of cast shared via Marvel Cinematic Universe Wiki. According to the website, it was alleged that Georges St-Pierre shall be returning as Georges Batroc in Ryan Reynolds‘ upcoming movie. Meanwhile, there has been no official confirmation whatsoever from any other outlets or official sites about St-Pierre’s appearance.
However, Marvel Cinematic Universe Wiki noted that Marvel might be using archive footage of Georges St-Pierre from his previous MCU projects for his appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine. Previously, the actor was fan-cast in Ryan Reynolds’ movie, back in February 2024. Therefore, the casting rumor remains a mystery for fans, who would certainly love to get a glimpse of St-Pierre in Deadpool & Wolverine.
