Zeb Wells has reportedly been brought on board as a new screenwriter for Deadpool 3. Along with Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, who wrote the previous two Deadpool movies for 20th Century Fox, Wells will co-write the script for the upcoming Marvel Studios production. Wernick and Reese were called back to revise the previous draft, which Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin penned for the Marvel Cinematic Universe-based Deadpool threequel.

Zeb Wells, the writer for She-Hulk and The Marvels, joins Deadpool 3

Zeb Wells has made a name for himself as a writer in the world of Marvel Comics, having worked on several titles, including Amazing Spider-Man and New Mutants. His talent has earned him recognition within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), as well. He was allowed to write Episode 7 of Marvel Studios’ 2022 Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, where he showcased his skills as a writer.

Wells’s contribution to the MCU does not end there, as he has also co-written the upcoming Marvel Studios film The Marvels, which is set to hit theaters this November as a sequel to Captain Marvel. Fans have highly anticipated the film, and Wells’ involvement in the project has only increased their excitement.

In addition to his writing, Wells has even made a cameo appearance in the final episode of She-Hulk. He appeared alongside fellow Marvel Comics writer Cody Ziglar, who wrote Episode 8, and the head writer of the show, Jessica Gao. The cameo was a nod to the comic book tradition of writers and artists appearing in their own work, and it was a fun moment for fans who were paying attention.

All in all, Wells’ experience as a Marvel Comics writer and his contributions to the MCU make him a valuable addition to the team of screenwriters for Deadpool 3. Fans can expect great things from him as the film continues to take shape.

Kevin Feige on talking about upping the game for Deadpool 3, “How do we elevate it in the way we’ve been able to with Civil War, and Infinity War and Ragnarok?” said Feige, before joking about getting to work with Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds. “It’s very fun to be in the world of the Ryan Reynolds show.”

When EW asked Kevin Feige how it feels to have mutants on the brain again, Feige had the following to say:

It’s amazing. And we’ve got Hugh Jackman coming back for our first Deadpool film within the MCU. That’s our first R-rated film. To have Hugh come back is incredible. For me, personally, that is where I started. I remember sitting behind the camera – well behind the camera – at his audition for the film. It was his first on-set audition, and he flew up to Toronto to do a read with Anna Paquin. For him, and for me, and I think for all of the fans of Marvel, it’s unbelievable what has happened in those 23 years. It’s very full-circle having him come back in this new Deadpool film.
